2011 Tournament Seedings Set

CNBThe 2011 Section Five Tournaments, begin on Monday. The Head Coaches met and sectional seedings were announced. Taking home the top seeds were Pittsford (Class A), Irondequoit (Class B) and Penn Yan (Class C).

The Panthers enter the tournament with an undefeated regular season (16-0) and will play the winner of Greece Arc/Oly versus Greece Ath/Ody. Fairport walked away with the second seed and will face Gates-Chili in the first round. Third seeded Penfield faces sixth seed Schroeder and fourth seeded Thomas faces fifth seed RH.

In the Class B tournament, the Irondequoit Eagles take on the winner of Spencerport and Brockport in their first game. Churchville-Chili finished the season 13-3 and the second seed. They will face the winner of seventh seeded Hilton and tenth seeded Eastridge. Brighton took Class Chome the third seed and will face the winner of Victor (6th) and HFL (11th). McQuaid Jesuit finished the regular season 7-8, but had enough quality wins to secure the fourth seed. The Knights will play Canandaigua in the first round.

In Class C, Penn Yan is back on top after taking the second seed in 2010. The Mustangs are looking to retake the Sectional Title after losing it for the first time last season. In the opening game, Penn Yan will face Batavia. Bath, with a shortened regular season, finished at 11-2. The Rams will face 15th seeded Gananda in the first round. Geneva took the 3rd seed and faces Midlakes and Aquinas took the fourth seed and faces Bloomfield-Honeoye. Pal-Mac finished the season 13-3 and secured the fifth seed and will face Newark in the first round. Livonia took the 6th seed and will face 11th seeded Waterloo. East Rochester (7) faces Bishop Kearney (11) and Marcus Whitman (8) face Mynderse (9).

The tournament is set and fans of Section Five looks to see who will walk away the Champions. In the first round, the best games should be the middle seeds. In Class A, Greece Arc/Oly vs Greece Ath/Ody looks to be a close contest. In Class B, McQuaid Jesuit vs Canandaigua and Spencerport vs Brockport both look to be good first round games. For Class C, Marcus Whitman vs Mynderse and East Rochester vs Bishop Kearney both look like they could be close games.
