CA and Penfield still Undefeated
(May 8, 2008) - Both Penfield and Canandaigua remain undefeated with games that were easily won today. Canandaigua beat Mynderse 21-4 and Penfield beat Rush-Henrietta 20-7. Other winners included Brockport, HFL, Churchville, Thomas, Canandaigua and Penn Yan. Also winning were Irondequoit over Schroeder (10-6), Aquinas over Livonia (13-8), Victor, Geneva, McQuaid (13-6) over Bath and Spencerport. Full Report

Penfield Undefeated
(May 6, 2008) - Penfield remains undefeated with an 11-5 win over Fairport. In other contests Ath/Ody was the winner over Batavia, Thomas over Brighton, Gates over Brockport, Hilton over Eastridge and Schroeder over Pittsford. Also winning were Irondequoit over Rush, Livonia over Bath, Geneva over Victor and BH over Midlakes. Newark beat Mynderse by one goal (13-12), Waterloo beat Pal-Mac by one (8-7), Spencerport beat Arc/Oly and McQuaid beat Aquinas 13-9. Full Report

Pittsford Day
(May 3, 2008) -A full day of lacrosse games took place in Pittsford today, capped off with a last minute win by the Panthers over Gates Chili 11-10. Hilton was a 15-3 winner over Spencerport, Livonia won their game (16-11) over Midlakes, and Pal-Mac was the 12-11 winner over Batavia. Out of area games included JD's win over Geneva (18-7) and Sweet Home over Victor (14-6). Full Report

Great Competition in 2008
(March 15, 2008) Last year at this time we stated that there was some serious talent among the Class A teams. Although heavyweights like Mike Manley and Grant Catalino are missing from this year's rosters, the general level of talent shared by a number of teams in the section is better than last year. Lacrosse Officials are Recruiting
The Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association(GVLOA) is currently recruiting officials for the upcoming spring season. The association is responsible for officiating boys’ Section V high school lacrosse. As the sport continues to grow there is a great demand for officials. Full Report
 

It's Over for Section Five
(June 07, 2007) - Section Five teams, who sweep the Western regionals were all eliminiated in the upstate (semi final rounds) today at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford. Geneva played to a 4-4 half-time tie but Jamesville DeWitt outscored the Panthers 7-1 in the third on their way to a 14-10 victory to send them to the Championship round. Penn Yan also played close half, but lost to JD 7-5. Irondequoit played with West Genny for a while, but the Wilcats took control at the half and ended with a1 11-3 victory. Full Report
 

All-Greater Rochester Team Announced
(June 29, 2007) - The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle has announced thier first AGR Lacrosse team, with the first Player of the Year honors going to Webster Schroeder attackman Grant Catalino. First year Irondequoit Head Coach, Craig Whipple, who's team won their first Sectional title since 2001, was names the first AGR Coach of the Year. Full Report
 

2007 All Tournament Teams and Awards
(June 1, 2007) - All Tournament Teams have been announced for 2007. MVP for A, B and C were Kevin Coholan (Irondequoit), RJ Gringeri (Geneva) and Adam Trombley (Penn Yan). Grant Catalino (Schroeder) was named Section Five Offensive Player of the Year. Michael Manley (Penn Yan) was named Defensive Player of the Year and Matt Moran (Rush-Henrietta) was named Sportsman of the Year. Brighton High School received the Sportsmanship Award from the Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials Association. Full Report

New York Tournament History Availablenys map
 - The first New York State Lacrosse Tournament was held in 1977 with Elmont (Section 8) the first champion. There were only six teams entered in the '77 tournament. Section Five first entered the tournament in 1978 with Rush Henrietta losing to Farmingdale 7-4 in the semi final round.
