(July 10, 2010) - The Herb Fitch Lacrosse Senior All Star Game finished with the White team defeating the Blue team 15-12. The game culminated with the naming of the offensive and defensive MVPs. The offensive most valuable player was Chris Button who finished with six goals on seven shots and four ground balls for the White team. Button, who was recently graduated from Fairport, will be attending Lemoyne in the fall. The defensive most valuable player was Tim Caton who finished with three ground balls, two shots and one assist for the White team. Caton, who was recently graduated from McQuaid Jesuit, will be attending Sacred Heart in the fall. Full Report |

July 2, 2010-The Rochester Democrat and Chronicle announced their 2010 All-Greater Rochester Lacrosse team today. The list features the top sixteen players and another sixty-four honorable mentions were led by Fairport senior attackman, Brendan Saylor who was named "Player of the Year". Full Report |

ca-nisky Post-Season 2010-Only one team beat the seeding this year and that was Irondequoit, who as #5 beat McQuaid (#4), then Canandaigua (#1) and finally Thomas (#2) to take their first Class B championship since 2007. The Eagles won 16-13) in the closest game on "Championship Friday". After twelve consecutive titles, Penn Yan, the only team to previous win the Section Five Class C tournaments, was dethroned by Aquinas (16-9). June 14, 2010 - The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has announced the 2010 Senior All Star Game selections. This year's contest, featuring some of the best of the graduating seniors will be held on Saturday, July 10th at Victor High School. (August 29, 2009) - SportsFive has announced the addition of a new feature on Sportsfive.NET. The "Player Profile" area contains individual pages for each of the more than 2,300 Section Five lacrosse players in the database. Information includes the player's team, class, scorebook data (starting in 2007), sectional awards won and a comment area, where team awards, club team membership and other lacrosse information may be found. The first New York State Lacrosse Tournament was held in 1977 with Elmont (Section 8) the first champion. There were only six teams entered in the '77 tournament. Section Five first entered the tournament in 1978 with Rush Henrietta losing to Farmingdale 7-4 in the semi final round.
