Post Season Play 2013
After the regular season, there are several championship opportunities for teams that qualify. First up are the Section Five Tournaments for three classes (A-B-C).
   
Sectionals winners then compete for their regional championships in what some call the "State Quarterfinals".
  

Winners then play in the semi finals and finals to win the New York State Champions. The SportsFive Calendar maps out the dates.

2013 Section Five Lacrosse
Day of Champions Sponsor

Once again, Section Five Boys Lacrosse has a corporate sponsor for the tournaments which culminates in the crowning of champions on Tuesday, May 28th. The Canandaigua National Bank and Trust will provide, along with general support, plaques for players named to this year's All Tournament team, certificates for All Sectional Five Lacrosse award winners and plaques for each of the winning tournament coaches. Section Five Lacrosse is fortunate to have such great neighbors as friends.

The Section Five Lacrosse Tournaments will start on Monday, May 20th and will end with the crowning of champions on Tuesday, May 28th.

This year's tournaments is "closed" with eight teams in Classes A and B and twelve teams in Class C qualifying to play following the brackets below.
  

In Class A:

Eight of ten teams will play in the 2013 tournament. There will be Fairportno out bracket round in Class A. The tournament will begin with the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, May 22nd at the higher seeded team's field.

The semifinal games will be played at Eastridge on Friday, May 24th and the Championship game will be played at St. John Fisher on Tuesday, May 28th at 7:30pm.

In Class B:

Eight of nine teams will play in the 2013 tournament.There will be no out bracket round in Class B. The tournament will begin with Irondequoitthe quarterfinal round on Wednesday, May 22nd at the higher seeded team's field.

The semifinal games will be played at either Webster Schroeder or Webster Thomas on Friday, May 24th. The higher seeded team will play the first game of the day. The Championship game will be played at St. John Fisher on Tuesday, May 28th at 3:45pm.

In Class C:

The top seeded twelve teams will play in the 2013 tourna-ment. The bottom six seeded teams will not play. Eight teams will play in out bracket Penn Yangames on Monday, May 20th at the higher seeded team's field. The winners will advance to the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, May 22nd, again at the higher seeded team's field.

The semifinal round will be played on Friday, May 24th at Waterloo. The higher seeded team will play the first game of the day.

The finals will be played at St. John Fisher on Tuesday, May 28th at 5:15 pm.

NYSPHSAA Championships - Rochester 2013

After each participating section has determined their champions, games are conducted by NYS to crown State Champions in classes A, B and C.

As of 2011, the format is Wednesday, Saturday, Wednesday, Saturday. This the result of previous weather delays that forced participants to play back-to-back games. This format allows several days between contests.

Western: Sections 5 and 6
Central: Sections 3 and 4
Lower State: Sections 1 and 2
Long Island: Sections 8 and 11
Outbracket: Sections 9 and 10

There are no teams playing in Section 7
   

Round 1 – Out bracket Games
There are a few teams playing lacrosse in Sections 9 and 10. After 2008 Sections 3 and 4 started to take turns playing against Section 10 and Sections 1 and 2 started to take turns playing in the out bracket game against Section 9. The Western region (Sections 5 and 6) and the Long Island region no longer play in the out bracket rounds.

In 2013, Section 3 Champions in Classes B and C are scheduled to play outbracket games against Section 10 on Wednesday, May 29th. The Class B game will be played at 3:30 and the Class C game will be played at 6:00. Also on May 29th, Section 1 Champions in Classes A, B and C will play the Section 2 Champions. The Class B game will be at 3:30, the Class C game at 5:30 and the Class A game will start at 8:00.

 

Round 2 – Regional Games
“Regional” games for each class will be played on Saturday, June 1st in what some call the “State Quarter finals”. The Class A “Western Regional Championship” game will be played at 6:00 pm. The Class B game will be played at 1:00. The Class C game will be played at 3:30. These games will be played at St. John Fisher College in Rochester (Section 5) this year.

In other parts of the State, Section 3/10 and 4 will play for the “Central Championship” and Sections 8 and 11 will play for the “Long Island Championship”. The winners of the Section 1 vs Section 2 out bracket will play against Section 9 for the “Lower State Championship”.

 

Round 3 – Semi Final Games
The “East and West” Championships will be played in each class on Wednesday, June 5th. The Western Regional Champions will play against the Central Champions at St. John Fisher College (Section 5) with Class B at 3:30 pm, Class C at 5:30 pm and Class A at 8:00 pm. These games will crown the “Upstate Champions”.

The “Downstate Championships” will be played at the same times as above.

 

Round 4 – New York State Championships
The Championship games for each Class will be played at St. John Fisher College on Saturday, June 8th with the Class B game starting at 11:00 am, the Class C game at 1:30 pm and the Class A game at 4:00 pm.
