Post Season Play '08
After the regular season, there are several championship opportunities for teams that qualify. First up are the Section Five Tournaments for three classes (A-B-C).
   
Sectionals winners then compete for their regional championships in what some call the "State Quarterfinals".

Section Five Tournament Brackets - '08

The Section Five Lacrosse Tournaments will start on Tuesday, May 27th and will end with the crowning of champions on Friday, June 6th.

The Section Five lacrosse teams will play in this year's tournaments following the brackets below.
  

In Class A:

All 16 teams will play in the 2008 tournament. All teams will play in out bracket games on Tuesday, May 27th at the higher seeded team's field. The winners will advance to the quarterfinal round on Friday, May 30th, again at the higher seeded team's field.

The semifinal games will be played at Aquinas on Tuesday, June 3rd and the Championship game will be played at St. John Fisher on June 6th at 7:30pm.

In Class B:

Six Class B teams will play quarter final games on Thursday, May 29th, while the top seed gets a bye. The quarterfinal games will be played at the higher seeded team’s field.
 
The semifinal round will be played at Waterloo High School on Tuesday, June 3rd. The higher seeded team will play the first game of the day.

  
The finals will be played at St. John Fisher on June 6th at 5:30 pm.

In Class C:

The two lowest seeded teams will by an out bracket game on Tuesday, May 27th at the higher seeded team's field. The winner will face the top seeded team in the quarter finals.

Quarter final games will be played on Friday, May 30th at the higher seeded team's field.

The semifinal round will be played on Tuesday, June 3rd at Hobart College. The higher seeded team will play the first game of the day.

The finals will be played at St. John Fisher on Friday, June 6th at 3:30 pm.

NYSPHSAA Championships

After each participating section has determined their champions, games are conducted by NYS to crown State Champions in classes A, B and C.

Western: Sections 5 and 6
Central: Sections 3 and 4
Lower State: Sections 1 and 2
Long Island: Sections 8 and 11
Outbracket: Sections 9 and 10

There are no teams playing in Section 7
   

Round 1 – Out bracket Games
There are a few teams playing lacrosse in Sections 9 and 10. The Western group and the Central group take turns playing an out bracket game against Section 10. The Lower State group and the Long Island group take turns playing an out bracket game against Section 9.

This year Section 10 Champions in Classes B and C are scheduled to play outbracket games on Saturday, June 7th at Section 3 (Central Square). The Class C game will be played at 1:00 and the Class B game will be played at 3:30. There is no Class A team representing Section 10. Also on June 7th, Section 1 Champions in classes A, B and C will play at a site in Section 9.

 

Round 2 – Regional Games
Four “Regional” games for each class will be played on June 10th in what some call the “State Quarterfinals”. The Class A “Western Regional Championship” game will be played at 3:30 pm. The Class B game will be played at 5:30. The Class C game will be played at 8:00. The games between Sections 6 and 5 will be played in Buffalo this year.  

In other parts of the State, Section 3/10 and 4 will play for the “Central Championship” and Sections 8 and 11 will play for the “Long Island Championship”. The winners of the Section 9 vs Section 1 out bracket will play against Section 2 for the “Lower State Championship”.

 

Round 3 – Semi Final Games
The “East/West” Championships will be played in each class on June 7th. The Western Regional Champions will play against the Central Champions at Coyne Field at Syracuse
University with Class A at 3:30 pm, Class B at 5:30 pm and Class C at 8:00 pm. These games will crown the “Upstate Champions”. The games were originally scheduled for CNS but have been moved to Coyne Field.

The “Downstate Championships” will be played at Hofstra this year (at the same times as above.)

 

Round 4 – New York State Championships
The Championship games for each Class will be played at Hofstra University on June 14th with the Class A game starting at 11:00 am, the Class B game at 1:30 pm and the Class C game at 4:00 pm.
