Although there were a number of
exciting games this week, we are only making one change in the ranking this week.
CLASS A
In Class A, after Thomas' 8-7 win over Fairport the Titans move to fifth and
the Raiders drop to sixth. This final week of games will have major ramification
for the Titans; With three game remaining (Eastridge, Churchville-Chili and
Schroeder) the Titans need to win all three to remain .7500 and they certainly
have a chance to do it.
The Thomas-Schroeder game on Saturday will have big effect on sectional seeding
for many teams (Schroeder fights to be .500, needing two wins against RH, Fairport
and Thomas). Although, it affects seeding less, Penfield and Irondequoit face-off
again on Thursday (both teams are guaranteed .7500 seasons regardless of remaining
games).
It has been our goal all season to predict the final four with our rankings.
At this point it is exceedingly difficult as, although the top three
teams are easily delineated, the fourth spot is still up for grabs. This
being said, it is also not a guarantee that the fourth seed will make it to
the final four (since the next level of competition is so strong). Canandaigua,
Penfield and Irondequoit are a solid top 3, then, depending on seeding, and
who plays who, the fourth team might turn out to be McQuaid Jesuit, Schroeder, Thomas
or Fairport.
CLASS B
In Class B, we are confidant in our rankings from the last couple weeks.
Geneva and Aquinas remain at the top of the list, followed by Victor and HFL.
Victor's loss to Livonia hurt them, but they remain a strong team Class B.
CLASS C
Class C also remains the same as over the past weeks. Livonia's win over Victor
is a huge win for the Bulldogs; Livonia has a chance this week to play Penn
Yan, in a precursor to what could be the Class C Finals. Bath and Waterloo
remain in the third and fourth spots.
As the season comes to a close we talked last week about only two teams having
their win/loss record "locked". This weekend we have added a number of teams
and 7 Class A, 4 Class B and 6 Class C schools have locked their win/loss record.
There are still 27 bubble teams, and it will come down to the last day of games
this season to get a lock on the exact seeding.
GAMES THIS WEEK
We're down to the last week of regular season games and 31
games are on the remaining schedule.
HFL plays C-C on Monday night. On Tuesday (12 games), Fairport is at Irondequoit,
and Livonia is at Penn Yan. On Thursday (12 games), CC is at Thomas, Fairport
is at Schroeder, Penfield is at Irondequoit, Penn Yan is at CA and McQuaid Jesuit
is at Corning West.
In a game that will probably effect lots of teams, Schroeder and Thomas have
their make-up game on Saturday morning. As both are "bubble teams" it
is possible that everyone that played either team could be affected by the outcome.
Talk about waiting to the last minute.
TOURNAMENT SEEDING
The Coaches' Seeding Meeting will be held one week from today
and the seeding will be published here Sunday evening. Outbracket games start
on Tuesday. The schedules and other tournament information is available on
the "Tournament Page".
The week-by-week list
is available. On the "Stat Blog", Kyle writes
