Twenty Local Teams Make NYS Scholars List | |
September 8, 2016 - At the end of each sport season, the NYSPHSAA honors those teams that excel in the classroom. For lacrosse, a team must have at least eleven players who have a 90% average or better during the spring season. One hundred and eighty-four NYS lacrosse teams were named this spring, with Charles W. Baker HS (Section 3) taking the highest honors this year with a team average of 96.39. Finger Lakes Releases Awards for 2016 | |
June 21, 2016 - The All Star list is out recognizing the Finger Lakes players for the 2016 season. Senior defenseman, Dylan Joy from Gananda was selected as Finger Lakes "Player of the Year". The "Midfielder of the Year" was Thomas Knapp from Wayne. The "Attackman of the Year" was Jon Ecker from Wayne and Wayne Head Coach Eric Carlsen was named Coach of the Year. Mike Denely from Bloomfield-Honeoye was named Assistant Coach of the Year and Mark Crane from Mark`s Pizzeria was named Man of the Year. Full Report | |

Lacrosse Scholarships | |
September 8, 2011 - Back in February of 2007, Coach Wilson posted a blog story called "Doing The Scholarship Math". The article pointed out the somewhat often misconception that scholarships in lacrosse were easy to find and get. In fact, the story demonstrated that a player would need to be among the top two percent of players to receive, in most cases, a partial scholarship. Full Report | |
New York Tournament History Available
The first New York State Lacrosse Tournament was held in 1977 with Elmont (Section 8) the first champion. There were only six teams entered in the '77 tournament. Section Five first entered the tournament in 1978 with Rush Henrietta losing to Farmingdale 7-4 in the semi final round.
