Hall of Fame Class of 2011 Announced

- The Greater Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse has announced the Hall of Fame Dinner for the Class of 2011 which will be held on November 4, 2011 at the Burgundy Basin Inn in Pittsford. This class honors four people with strong coaching credentials. The honorees are Dr. Jeanne DelSignore, Peter Lasagna, Shawn Nadelen and Rob Randall.DelSignore

Jeanne L. DelSignore, M.D. is a graduate of Holy Cross. While there, she excelled academically in the Biology and the pre-med program, and athletically in both varsity lacrosse and field hockey. She was named captain of the Women's lacrosse team in her senior year and earned the distinction of being the first woman to receive the Intercollegiate Athletic Achievement Award, granted to the highest-ranking scholar-athlete who competed at the highest level in varsity athletics.

She is a 1983 graduate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and has become a nationally respected Orthopedic surgeon, specializing in hand surgery.

She has coached many local teams as well as US Lacrosse Rochester U-13 and U-15 festival teams as well as all-star teams in regional, state and national tournaments. In 2009, Jeanne was approached by US Lacrosse to serve as their Ethics Advisory Chair and spearheaded the development of the first Code of Ethics for US Lacrosse, setting standards of behavior for member coaches, volunteers, players, parents and affiliates. She continues to serve US Lacrosse in that capacity by working with US Lacrosse senior leadership in reviewing and offering advice on ethical concerns from US Lacrosse members. She has also served on the US Lacrosse Greater Rochester Board.Lasagna

Peter Lasagna spent a number of high school years in Brighton before attending Brown University. He coached at Brown for eighteen years and was Head Coach from 1993-2000. His Brown teams won Ivy Championships in 1994 and 1995. He was named the USILA national Coach of the Year for Division I in 1994 and NEILA (New England) Coach of the Year in 1994 and 1995. In 2002, Peter was inducted into the New England Lacrosse Hall of Fame. Lasagna was named NESCAC Coach of the Year in 2005.

He enters his 12th season as Head Coach at Bates College. His monthly column, "Take My Whistle, Please!" for the award-winning Inside Lacrosse magazine has appeared since 2001. Peter is past President of the US Lacrosse Men's Coaches Council.

While at Rush Henrietta High School, Shawn Nadelen was 1996-97 AGR Defensive Player of the Year in Football and a 1997 All-American Midfielder Lacrosse. Shawn was graduated from Johns Hopkins University in 2001 where he was a four year starter and captain, playing both midfield and defense. He led the Blue Jays to two trips to the NCAA Final Four and was named a USILA All American in 2001.Nadelen

Nadelen was drafted with the 15th overall pick in the inaugural MLL Draft by the Bayhawks franchise and played eleven seasons with the team in Baltimore, Washington, and Chesapeake before retiring in June 2011. He won three Steinfeld Cups with the franchise and was named an MLL All-Star in 2006. He also played indoor lacrosse for ten years in the National Lacrosse League with Philadelphia, Minnesota, and New Jersey.

One of his greatest highlights as a player came in the Summer of 2010 when he recovered from a serious knee injury to help Team USA win the gold medal at the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championships in England. He also represented Team USA in the 2007 World Indoor Games.

Shawn began his coaching career in 2001 as an assistant coach at Princeton University. He moved to Towson University in 2004 and was recently appointed at their Head Coach. after his selection Dave Pietramala, Head Men's Lacrosse Coach, Johns Hopkins University said of Shawn, "When I think of Shawn, I think of the word class. From the time I met him during his senior year in high school to his senior year at Johns Hopkins when he played for me, he has been a first class individual. He has continued to do things the right way as a coach and really cares about the kids and wants to be successful. Towson made a great choice in hiring not only a good coach, but an even better person."

Rob Randall has coached at Nazareth College for eleven seasons and has compiled a record of 138-48 with seven NCAA Tournament appearances and six Empire 8 Conference titles. He has been chosen E8 Coach of the Year four times.Randall

In 2004, he guided the Golden Flyers to the NCAA Division III championship game in Baltimore. His 2004 team set a school record with sixteen victories, a number that was duplicated in 2007. He also has been selected to coach in the North-South Senior All-Star Game.

Rob was a scholastic standout as a player at Irondequoit High School, then went on to earn junior college All-America honors at Herkimer County Community College before finishing his career at Nazareth in 1987.

After earning his undergraduate degree at Nazareth in Sociology, he stayed on as an assistant coach for three seasons and was on the staff in 1992 when the Golden Flyers won their first of three national titles. He went on to become head coach at Sacred Heart University for four seasons and then served as an assistant for three seasons at the United States Military Academy at West Point. After one season at Geneseo (2000), he returned to Nazareth in 2001.

Rob has been active on numerous lacrosse committees. He served on the NCAA Rules Committee from 2003 through 2008; has been active on the USILA's All-American and national rankings committees; serves on the executive board of the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association; is on the NCAA Championships Committee; and is the college liaison on the local US Lacrosse board.

The Rochester Chapter of US Lacrosse has honored local lacrosse recipients since 1992. Reservations for the November 4th dinner can be made through the Chapter web site. Early bird prices are available before October 13th.
