Cancer Awareness Game at CA on Tuesday
May 8, 2011 - In an attempt to bring awareness to the fight against cancer, Canandaigua Boy's Lacrosse is designating their game with Victor on Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00 p.m. at CA's Exhibition Field as their first annual "Beat Cancer" game.
The teams is asking all of their fans to wear pink to show support for the fight against breast cancer. The booster club will have the concession stand open and will be selling pink CA Lacrosse t-shirts as well. All proceeds from the concession stand and t-shirt sales will go to "Embrace Your Sisters", a local organization that provides short-term emergency financial assistance.
In addition, the team is also honoring all of their youth players/teams at the game. They are asking the youth players to bring a milk jug (emptied, rinsed, and dried out) with some coins in it to shake before and during the game. At the end of the game, they will empty their milk jugs out into a collection bucket. That money, along with other money collected that night and be donated to the above-mentioned organization.
