Aquinas and Webster Thomas played a close game, with the Little Irish winning 8-7 at McAvoy Park. Pittsford beat Penfield 12-2, Geneva beat Marcus Whitman (13-3) and East Rochester was a 21-3 winner over Bishop Kearney. Churchville-Chili scored seven goals in the second quarter and went on to beat Brighton 14-12.

  --  Pittsford defeated Penfield 12-2 in the second game at McAvoy Park this afternoon. Although the game started closely at 1-0 after the first quarter, Pittsford added seven more unanswered goals in the second quarter.

The Patriots had 34 shots in the game with only 12 on cage. Penfield's Matt Condon finished with 9 shots and Alex Miles finished with 6 shots. Matt Bilak, who scored one of the two goals for Penfield, had 7 shots. The second Penfield goal was scored by Mike Larkin.

For Pittsford, Jack Lauroesch led with 3g-2a. Corey Parke and Alex Kober each added 2g-1a for the Panthers. In total, the Panthers took 27 shots with 18 on cage. In the ground ball battle, Pittsford won 36-22. Tyler Aycock led with seven ground balls. LSM freshman Nick Panara and senior goalie Conor Quinn added four each for Pittsford. For Penfield, face-off man Connor Russell led with 10 ground balls. Russell finished 13/18 (72%) at the draw.

In the cage, Conor Quinn and Cahal Moulton split time. Quinn finished with 10 saves (83%). Moulton played five minutes between the pipes, but did not record a save. For Penfield, Keith Keehn finished with six saves.

  --  Webster Schroeder received the first win of their season with a 16-7 victory over Gates Chili. The Warriors took the game to running time in the third quarter before Gates Chili came back and scored five of the last six goals. At one point, the Warriors led 15-2 with 2:48 remaining in the third quarter.

The game was plagued with penalties as each team received nine penalties. Three of Gates Chili's late goals were scored during double non-releasable man-down penalties for Webster (a stick penalty and an unsportsmanlike conduct).

For Gates Chili, Grant Ferguson (4g-1a) and Matt Dakin (1g-4a) led in scoring. Ferguson continues to improve on the Gates Chili career points record he set last game. In the cage, Brian Lane and Tyler Jacobson nearly split halves. Lane finished with five saves and Jacobson finished with eight saves (67%).

For Schroeder, Tyler Mason led with 3g-5a. Dylan DiFante (4g-1a) and Nick Powell (3g-1a) also had stand-out performances for the Warriors. In the cage, Eric Saltrelli finished with 3 saves and Nick Russo did not record a save.

  --  Aquinas played a constant game and finished the one point winner over Webster Thomas 8-7. Aquinas had two sets of three unanswered goals which was enough to secure their victory. Between the pipes for Aquinas, Erich Wischmeyer finished just over 50% with 8 saves including one key save at the end of the game. Don Grace finished with five saves for the Titans.

Thomas started the game in control, scoring the first two goals. The first goal was scored when JT Hauck drove from the top of the restraining line and put the ball in the back of the net. Five minutes later Troy Crevier scored on a drive from behind the cage. Aquinas scored their first goal with 0:40 remaining in the first quarter. Mike Messina passed the ball to the crease and hit Jake Vogl who cut to the ball and scored. Thomas led at the end of the first quarter 2-1.

In the second quarter, Aquinas scored two goals while holding Thomas to one. The Little Irish controlled the second quarter. They scored their second straight goal with Pete DiLaura feeding Alex Bianchi on the crease. Four minutes later Messina added his first goal of the night. The Syracuse bound senior, who recently returned to the lineup from the injured list, scored after driving from the top of the restraining line. Grace initially made the stop, but momentum kept the ball moving across the goal line. Thomas had a difficult time in the second quarter. The first four shots of the quarter all missed the cage and it wasn't until the final seconds that the Titans put a shot on cage. The play began with 0:19 remaining and Aquinas calling a time out. When played resumed, attackman John Hill stripped the ball from the Little Irish and John Zawacki picked up the ball and scored. Even though Aquinas only won the quarter by one goal, they clearly dominated play. The second quarter was a key factor in the win. The game was tied 3-3 at the end of the first half.

In the third quarter, Aquinas kept up the pressure although Thomas scored on a face-off fast-break only 0:09 into the quarter. Crevier picked up his own ground ball and fed Zawacki who looked across the crease to Jake Giudice. Aquinas tied the score with another successful ride. Klay Heston stripped the ball, allowing Bianchi to grab the loose ball and feed Vogl for the goal. Thomas took the lead for the third time only 0:18 later. Giudice picked up the loose ball on the crease, and passed it across the crease to John Hill for the goal. Aquinas kept up their pressure and tied the score with 7:17 remaining. Billy Lombardi fed the ball to Bianchi on the crease for the tying goal. One minute later and Aquinas took their first lead of the game. After duel unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, the game was 5 vs 5. Messina drove from the top of the restraining line for his second goal of the game. Aquinas held their first lead of the game finishing the third quarter (6-5).

In the fourth quarter the teams went back and forth with scoring. Aquinas scored their third straight goal to take the two goal lead. Messina fed the ball to Bianchi in the middle of the restraining box and he finished with the ball in the back of the net. One minute later and Hauck added his second goal of the game and first of two the quarter with an outside shot during extra-man offense. The goal was assisted by Zawacki. Messina came back and scored after a technical face-off win. Messina took advantage of an unsettled situation to score. The final goal of the game was scored by Hauck. Thomas called a time out and Hauck took the ball straight to the back of net after play resumed.

Face-off draws were split 50-50. Crevier (7/14) and Joe Stacy (2/4) split for the Titans. Crevier finished the game with five ground balls. Leading the ground ball charge for Thomas was midfielder Hauck with six. Zawacki also finished with five ground balls for Thomas. Aquinas had three different face-off men with Lombardi (2/10), Messina (6/7) and DiLaura (1/1) all taking a chance at the draw. Messina led in ground balls with 11 (5 off of the face-off). Jake Vogl finished with six ground balls and Wischmeyer finished with four.

  --   Churchville-Chili scored 13 out of 15 straight goals, including nine unanswered, in their 14-12 win over Brighton. The Barons came out swinging, scoring the first four goals before Churchville-Chili began their streak. The Barons also attempted a late comeback, scoring six of the last seven and outscoring the Saints 6-1 in the final quarter.

Brighton's Steven Cregan, Alex Lebowitz, Brackett Bourne and defenseman Dan Pierce scored the first four goals of the game spanning the first seven minutes. Churchville-Chili scored their first goal when Taylor Kolmer assisted Jeff Gurbacki with 5:03 remaining in the opening quarter. Kurt Minges scored on the ensuing face-off to give the Barons a 5-1 lead. Churchville-Chili added two more goals before the end of the quarter with Trevor Hodgins and Nick Gray scoring. The first quarter ended with Brighton leading 5-3.

Churchville-Chili kept it going, adding seven unanswered goals in the second quarter. With 8:50 remaining Ryan Yunker scored his first goal of the game (assisted by Nolan Jessop). Two minutes later, Yunker added his 129th career goal for Churchville-Chili and set that new school record. The next goal was scored by defenseman Scott Shamp, his first goal of the season. Rounding out the scoring in the second quarter were Hodgins, Yunker (2) and Kolmer. Churchville-Chili led 10-5 at halftime.

In the third quarter, Churchville-Chili kept up the pressure. Brighton scored the first goal on an unassisted goal from Cregan. However, the Saints finished out the quarter adding three more to their tally. Kolmer scored the first goal during man-up (assisted by Gray). Yunker scored the last two goals, both unassisted. Churchville-Chili led 13-6 after three quarters.

In the fourth quarter, Brighton tried to come back. Cregan added four goals for the Barons. Along with Cregan's goals, CJ Wool and Casey Koop each added one. The final goal for Churchville-Chili was scored by Pat Bonafede.

In the cage, Jordan Carey played all but two minutes and recorded eight saves. Tom Hilling played two minutes between the pipes and recorded one save. For Churchville-Chili (6-1), Jack Corcoran finished with seven saves. At the face-off draw, Max Brauer finished with an impressive 19/27 (76%) for the Barons (5-2).
