Once again this year, SportsFive will publish, each week, rankings in each class. SportsFive will provide links to the New York State Sportswriters poll and to the Laxpower national polls.

There sure were a number of surprise game results last week which leads to some changes in the ranking this week.

CLASS A
Pittsford's big win against Irondequoit combined with the Titan's loss to Irondequoit, encourages us to move the Panthers up one slot this week, but the matter may be resolved on Thursday when they play their make-up from a week ago.

Time will tell for Thomas and Penfield They are scheduled to play each other in early May. Both teams appear to be gaining strength as the season progresses.

CLASS B
Churchville-Chili beat Aquinas and Aquinas beat McQuaid, so we have moved the Saints up one slot this week. McQuaid is off to California this week for two games. We don't know much about the quality of play for those games, but it will be interesting to see what happens for the Knights. Brighton and Churchville are up on Thursday and should decide their position for the next week.

CLASS C
There are no changes for the top of Class C this week. Penn Yan continues to turn in better results as the Mustangs start to come together as a team. Aquinas missed the injured Mike Messina, but he is back and that will help with a tough vacation week schedule as they play both Pittsford and Thomas this week.

GAMES THIS WEEK

Next week is vacation week in Section Five and there are a limited number of games, spread out over the next six days. A couple of teams moved league games for this week, to free up other days later in the season.

A couple of teams are on the road this week, taking spring break trips as a team. McQuaid Jesuit is off to the west coast to play two games in California and to do some community service projects while spending time with their host teams. Penn Yan is headed down-state to see some sights and play Lakeland-Panas on Tuesday.

There are lots of great games this week. On Monday, we are interested in the Fairport vs Thomas (at McAvoy) game.

On Tuesday, there are a bunch of good match ups. Geneva is at CA, Pittsford is at Aquinas, Victor plays at Hilton and Duxbury (Mass) is playing the return game at Irondequoit this time. Last year, the Massachusetts State runner up, who lost in OT to St. Johns, just edged out the Eagles (5-4). It should be a top "National" game to watch.

On Thursday there's Penfield at Pittsford, AQ at Thomas, Brighton is at C-C and ER is at BK. Penn Yan is at Canandaigua on Friday night. On Saturday there are two out of Section games. Fairport is at Ithaca and Binghamton is at Penfield.

We bet there will be a few great games among these contests this week. Of course, if your team is playing, IT is the Game of the Week.
