March, 2010 - Greece Arcadia/Olympia finished last season sixth in Monroe County Division III with a 2-10 record (4-11 overall). Over the past four years, the Lightning have combined for seven wins. Greece hopes to continue last year's four wins with another improved season. The Lightning lost eight players to graduation last season, however, most of the key players are returning this season. Coach John Kleehammer writes, "This team is probably the best I have had at Greece, top to bottom, but there are only 20 of them."
Offensively, Kendrick Heintzelman and Robert Kitchen both return to have some part in leading the team. Heintzelman finished with 16g-16a and Kitchen with 20g-16a. Both look to be key players for the Lightning. Heintzelman was named to the Second Team midfield list.
Between the pipes, sophomore Shane Trost and senior Keifer Phillips will both split time as they fight for the starting role. Last season Trost finished with 103 saves over 14 games and Phillips had 89 saves spanning 10 games. The Lightning will need to look for the new players to quickly adjust to their new roles. Coach Kleehammer states, "the defense must learn to quickly adjust to varsity tempo while the offense will rely more on assisted goals from more players."
Since only twelve games are required for the Division III schedule, four out of league games can be played. The Lightning has scheduled two against HF-L and two against Bishop Kearney. Top Returning Players: Top New Players:
