November 15, 2010 - Although there was no National Letter of Intent, the Pittsford Lacrosse Community celebrated the accomplishments of Alex Kober who has received an appointment to the Air Force Academy and plans to play lacrosse with the Falcons next year.
After looking at RIT and Mercyhurst among other schools, Alex enjoyed his official visit in Colorado Springs and spent time with former Webster Thomas goalie, Austin Fox and found the school, it's ideals and mission a great fit.
The senior attack/midfielder scored twenty-four points as a freshman on the Pittsford Varsity and has sixty-three goals and twenty-eight assists as he enters his senior year. He lists as models 2008 attackman, Conor McDermott and last year's leading goal scorer, James Purpura who is currently at Mount Saint Mary's in Maryland.
His thoughts as he prepares for the rigors of Academy life include getting stronger and working on his off-hand. Although he credits much of his success to Coach Andrew Whipple, he quickly gives thanks and credit to his father, Karl, who is not only his biggest fan, but also "signed him up" for his first lacrosse program.
Alex won't have a great deal of time after graduation to celebrate his high school accomplishments as he is to report to the Air Force Academy early in the summer.
