--  "This was a big win for us this year, probably the biggest of the year so far for us," commented Livonia Head Coach Brett Wood after his Bulldogs beat McQuaid Jesuit 9-5 at Livonia.

After a slow first quarter which ended with no score, the Knights took a 4-1 lead including two in man up and McQuaid led at halftime 4-1.

"I told our kids at the half that we needed to possess the ball more and be patient on both sides of the field, and to stay out of the penalty box to get back into the game," said Wood, whose players had only one penalty in the third, which the Man Down Unit defended successfully. The Bulldogs added four of their own in the third the quarter ended in a 5-5 tie.

Livonia controlled the ball in the fourth quarter, while the Knights ended up with five penalties. Jeff Wester drew a slide and passed the ball to Mike Donals at 9:20. Wester dodged during the next possession in man up and tossed the ball to Ryan Smith, giving Livonia a two point lead. Josh Wester scored on a bounce shot and Jeff West won a one-on-one for the fourth goal. Although the Bulldogs finished the game with two penalties, McQuaid was unable to convert, due in part to key saves by Ethan Jamison (13s/5ga).
