Tuesday: Spencerport in OT, CA over Geneva by One
 - 

Canandaigua was a won goal winner over Geneva (6-5). Spencerport won their game with Brockport in overtime (11-10). Pal-Mac beat B-H by one (7-6) and Midlakes, Penfield, Waterloo, Fairport, Batavia, Irondequoit, Brighton and Thomas were all winners in the last week of the regular season.

 

 

Penfield 21 - Rush-Henrietta 6 

special  --  Although the game began close in the first quarter, Penfield scored 17 goals in the last three quarters to defeated RH 21-9.

pen-rhIn the first quarter the game was back and forth with both teams looking good offensively. Chris Aycock scored the first goal for the Royal Comets with a ground ball on the crease and a backhanded shot. Penfield scored their first goal with Alex Miles catching a shot (from behind the cage) and passed it back to the front to Tucker Nelson. Nelson finished the game with 7 goals for the Patriots. Kyle Van Thof scored the next goal just 28 second later. Van Thof picked up the ground ball off a hard fought face-off and went straight to the goal. Five Penfield goals were scored from face-off fast-breaks.

R-H came back with two more goals. Joe Perkins scored the first goal after stepping up from behind the cage and putting one behind goalie Brady Del Pozzo. R-H added their third goal during an extra-man opportunity with Aycock scoring (assisted by Mark Mattiacio). Man-up was a big part of scoring with Penfield scoring 4/4 and R-H scoring 1/2. With four minutes remaining in the quarter, R-H led 3-2. Nelson added two more goals before the end of the quarter to give the Patriot's the one goal lead at the end of the first half. The first goal was scored with a drive from behind the cage. The later, the second face-off fast-break of the game, was scored when Van Thof picked up his own ground ball and hit Nelson on the crease.

Going into the second quarter, the Patriots picked up the scoring. Penfield scored the first six goals of the quarter, all in less the five minutes. At 7:08. The Patriots scored their sixth goal and R-H switched goalies to Corey Spuck. Spuck finished the game and had 5 saves for the Royal Comets. Matt Gladstone, the starting goalie for RH finished with 2 saves.

Penfield won the ground ball battle 35-26. Van Thof led in ground balls with 15. Six other Patriots had two ground balls. Brad Sauln (6) and Chauncey Scissum (4) led in ground balls for RH. At the face-off Van Thof finished with 17/22 for Penfield. Sauln was 13/30 for the Royal Comets.

In the cage for Penfield, Del Pozzo finished with 5 saves and Jamie Solomon finished with 2 saves.

Waterloo 10 - Newark 6 

 --  Waterloo defeated Newark 10-6. The Indians won the first three quarters, while the Reds won the fourth quarter 2-1.

Scoring for Waterloo were Rob Goodenow (2g), Pete Vacca (4g-2a), Jeff Wadhams (5a), Dylan Chilson (1g), Chance Lowry (2g) and Joe Shaffer (1g). Zach Ramirez had 14s/6ga for Waterloo.

Scoring for Newark were Luke Hartman (1g), Jack Timerson (1a), John Gonzalez (3g) and RJ VanDeMortel (2g). In the cage, Dominic Camblin finished with 12 saves for the Reds.

 

Midlakes 16 - Marcus Whitman 6  

 --  Midlakes defeated Marcus Whitman 16-6. Marcus Whitman scored one goal in each of three quarter, while adding three goals in the third quarter.

Tyler Brooks-Lambert was a major player for the Eagles, especially early in the game. He won early face-offs and took advantage of unsettled situations for Midlakes. Tucker Jensen played the entire game for the Eagles and finished with 4 saves. Two goalies played for Marcus Whitman; Nick Cosmano played the majority of the game and finished with 13 saves, Bobby Mason played the last five minutes of the game and made one save.

Scoring for Midlakes were Mike Newland (1g), Matt Barilla (2g-2a), Ben Uveges (3g-5a), Tyler Brooks-Lambert (6g-2a), Travis Bevins (1g), Tom Cheney (3a), Rob Buchwald (1a), Austin Collett (1g) and Cory Gray (2g).

Scoring from Marcus Whitman were Shawn Allen (2g), Adam Chapman (1g) and Jurrell Thompson (3g).

Brighton 15 - Greece Thunder 3  

 --  The Thunder got on the scoreboard first at 10:38 when Tyler Gorgione scored with an assist from attackman Nate Wallenhorst. Brighton countered with six unanswered first quarter goals. The Barons had six different goal scorers as sophomores Steve bri-athCregan, CJ Wool, Brackett Bourne, Mike Asselin tallied goals as well as seniors Evan Davis and Mark Henrichs. Cregan and Davis added two assists while Henrichs added one. Brighton took the 6-1 first quarter lead.

Brighton added five more goals during the second quarter and held the Thunder scoreless. Davis added two with sophomore long stick midfielder Dan Pierce, junior middie Jared Ricks, and Brackett Bourne scored one each. The Barons had an 11-1 halftime lead.

Brighton outscored the Thunder 3-1 in the third quarter increasing their lead to 14-2 entering the fourth quarter. Scoring for Brighton were CJ Wool, Mark Henrichs, and Dan Pierce each with their second of the game. Middie Scotty Tam scored for the Thunder. Brighton and Greece each scored one goal each in the fourth quarter. Brighton junior attackman Matan Cohen scored an unassisted goal and Matt Keogh scored for the Thunder. Brighton had nine different goal scorers in the game. The final score was 15-3 for Brighton.

With the win and Brockport's loss to Spencerport, the Barons gained sole possession of first place in Monroe County Division Three with one game left to play. Max Brauer had 12 of 19 on face offs. Long stick midfielder, Dan Pierce lead Brighton with eight ground balls and midfielder Steven Cregan added five.

Scoring for Brighton were Evan Davis (3g-2a), Mark Henrichs (2g-3a), CJ Wool (2g), Brackett Bourne (2g), Dan Pierce (2g), Steven Cregan (1g-4a), Jared Ricks (1g), Matan Cohen (1g) and Mike Asselin (1g). Kyle Hohmann had 5s/2ga (24 mins) and Jordan Carey had 7s/1ga (24 mins) for the Barons (12-3).

Scoring for the Thunder were Phil Bond (1a), Nate Wallenhorst (1a), Tyler Gorgione (1g), Scotty Tam (1g) and Matt Keough (1g). Steve Cole made 2s/15ga (34 mins and Zach Cox had 0s/1ga (14 mins) for the Thunder (8-7).

Thomas 17 - Victor 0   

updated --  Thomas defeated Victor 17-0 this afternoon. The Titans had three different goalies take part in the shut-out. Dan Solimano finished with 3 saves, Jim O'Neil finished with 6 saves and Austin Fox finished with 1 save.

Scoring for Thomas were Jack Hinderland (5g-3a), Brad Hutton (2g), Nick Scalzo (2g), JT Hauck (2g), Kyle LaVallee (2g), Bill Gurowski (2a), Ken Tomeno (1g-1a), Pat Morrill (1g), Zach Crawford (1g) and Kyle Rothfuss (1g).

In the cage for Victor, Kevin Donnelly finished with 15 saves for the Blue Devils.

 

Churchville-Chili 8 - HFL 6 

 --  Churchville-Chili defeated HFL 8-6. The Saints won the first and third quarters; the cougars won the second quarter, and both teams scored one goal in the fourth quarter.

Churchville-Chili scored the first two goals of the game. Zach Yehl scored less than two minutes into the first quarter. The second goal was scored with Ryan Yunker passing the ball to Nick Gray. Yunker finished the game with 3g-2a. With 3:33 remaining in the quarter, Tommy O'Leary got his first goals of the game (he finished with three) to bring the cougars within one goal at the end of the first quarter.

Churchville-Chili scored the first two goals of the second as well. Yunker added an unassisted goal, during a double man-up opportunity. Jon Hemink passed the ball to Yehl for the fourth goal of the game. Churchville-Chili was up 4-1 with 5:17 remaining in the second quarter. HFL scored the last three goals to end the half tied 4-4. The three goals were scored by Jason Breau, Bryan Gardner and Eric Boike (Gardner assisted two of the three goals).

In the Third quarter, Churchville-Chili scored the first goal less than two minutes into the quarter with Yunker assisting Hemink. Mickey Allan assisted O'Leary for his second goal and to retie the score at 5-5. Churchville-Chili scored the last two goals of the third quarter, and it was enough for the win. Yehl scored unassisted followed by Yunker scoring his second of three (assisted by James Liberi). Churchville-Chili led 7-5 after three quarters.

Yunker scored the first goal of the quarter unassisted for Churchville-Chili during man-up. The final goal of the game was O'Leary's third goal of the game and was scored with 10:18 remaining in the fourth quarter. The Saints held off the Cougars for the remainder of the game.

In the cage, Adam DiFulvio and Jay Tallon each played the entire game for their teams. DiFulvio finished with 8 saves for the Saints and Tallon finished with 10 saves for the Cougars.

Scoring for Churchville-Chili were Yunker (3g-2a), Yehl (3g), Hemink (1g-1a), Gray (1g) and Liveri (1a).

Scoring for HFL were O'Leary (3g), Gardner (1g-2a), Boike (1g), Breau (1g) and Allan (1a).

Canandaigua 6 - Geneva 5

 --  Canandaigua defeated Geneva 6-5 this afternoon. Canandaigua used a strong second quarter performance (3-1) to hold the one goal win. Geneva won the third quarter 2-1 and both teams tied 1-1 in the first and fourth quarters.

In the cage, Nick King played the entire game and finished with 10 saves for the Braves. Ross Dinan finished with 13 saves for the Panthers.

Scoring for Canandaigua were Deven Alves (2g), Tanner Scharr (2g-1a), Brian Scheetz (2g-1a), Collin Peck (2a), Gannon Osborn (1a) and Bryan Peck (1a).

Scoring for Geneva were Tyler Travis (1g), Mike Warner (1g), Frank Triana (1g), Chris Tapscott (2g) and Will Brennan (1a).

 

Spencerport 11 - Brockport 10    OT  

 --  Spencerport defeated Brockport in overtime 11-10. Brockport led after each of the first three quarters. The Blue Devils led by two after the first, by one after the second, and by three after the third quarter. The Rangers outscored the Blue Devils 4-1 in the fourth quarter to force the game into overtime. Kyle Mark passed the ball to Austin Hintz for the game winning goal 2:53 into the first overtime.

Scoring for Spencerport were Kyle Mark (5g-2a), Austin Hintz (2g-2a), Sean DeMers (1g-2a), Kevin Heacock (1g-1a), Nick Fisher (1g), Kristian Barbato (1g) and Pat Crumb (1a). In the cage, Tyler Schweikert finished with 12 saves for the Rangers.

Scoring for Brockport were Jake Burns (5g-1a), Ryan Pratt (1g-5a), Trevor Hayward (1g), Matt Lester (1g), Pat Steves (1g) and Pete Orszagh (1g). In the cage, Dylan White finished with 16 saves for the Blue Devils.

 

Irondequoit 11 - Eastridge 1  

 --  Irondequoit defeated Eastridge 11-1 this afternoon. The Eagles won 10/13 face-offs.

Scoring for Irondequoit were Drew Coholan (3g), Greg Coholan (1g-2a), Mike Utz (2g-1a), Emmy Poccia (2a), John Padulo (1g), Erik Kleehammer (1g), Ian Brooks (1g), Dave Micheli (1g), Jordan Napierala (1g). Tyler Nash played the entire game in the cage and had 12 saves.

Scoring for Eastridge were Kevin Stapleton (1g) and Adam Sisson (1a). In the cage, Jake Czwilinski played the entire game and finished with 11 saves.

 

Batavia 16  - Greece Lightning 8

 --  Batavia defeated Greece Lightning 16-8. The Lightning took an early 4-3 lead, however, Batavia scored nine goals in a row spanning all four quarters. Greece Lightning scored three goals in the final four minutes of the game.

In the cage for Batavia, Theo Hill played the majority of the game and finished with 18 saves (78%). Anthony Siedlecki finished the game and had one save. Shane Trost played the first and fourth quarters for Greece Lightning and finished with four saves. Keifer Phillips played the second and third quarters and had 8 saves.

Scoring for Batavia were Joe Muoio (2g-4a), Kyle Maniace (2g), Will Mulcahy (3g-3ga), Joe Pedro (3g), Josh Marr (1g-1a), Chad Luce (1g), Chip Chapman (3g), Vin Pedro (1a) and Josh Sanchez (1g).

Scoring for Greece Lightning were Richard Fischer (1g-2a), Joshua Hueber (1g), Anthony Spallone (1g), Kendrick Heintzelman (1g), Joe Malovics (1g), Robert Kitchen (1g), Brandon Wood (1g) and David Powlowski (1g).

 

Pal-Mac 7 - Bloomfield-Honeoye 6 

updated --  Pal-Mac used strong performances in the second and third quarters (outscoring Bloomfield-Honeoye 3-2 in each quarter) to win 7-6. Bloomfield-Honeoye scored the lone goal of the first quarter, and each team added one goal in the fourth quarter.

Bloomfield-Honeoye tied the game with 4:51 remaining in the fourth quarter with a goal from Luke Blain (assisted by Zach Hammond). Pal-Mac scored the game winning goal with 3:09 remaining in the game. Bloomfield-Honeoye had opportunities near the end of the game but could not capitalize. In the cage, Jay Nichols finished with 14 saves for Bloomfield-Honeoye and Tim Doyle finished with 12 saves for Pal-Mac.

Scoring for Pal-Mac were Jamie Consler (1g), Jeff Kier (4g), Greg Kier (1g-1a) and Mike Russell (1g-1a).

Scoring for Bloomfield-Honeoye were Luke Blain (1g), Luke Anderson (1g), Zach Hammond (1g-2a), Zach Stevens (3g) and Sean Beaney (3a).

 

Fairport 13 - Hilton 3 

updated --  Fairport's Kris Sterzin had a first half shutout over Hilton as the Raiders won a 13-3 victory in their Monroe County D-1 game.

Scoring for Fairport were Martin Manilla (2g-3a), Brendan Saylor (5g-2), Chris Button (3g), Derek DeJoe (2g), Andrew Hays (2a), Gary Salamone (1g), and Brian Martin (1a). Kris Sterzin played for the first half and had 5s/0ga and Kyle Hall finished the game with 5s/3ga for the Red Raiders (13-1).
