Thursday: Schroeder over Penfield, Waterloo OT WInner
 -  Webster Schroeder was a 12-8 winner over Penfield and Waterloo beat Bloomfield-Honeoye 12-11 in overtime as the two winners were joined by twelve others at the regular season starts to run down. Victor won an 11-10 game with Eastridge and Newark beat Mynderse 13-9. The rest of the games with runaways, many in running time.

 

Schroeder 12 - Penfield 5 

 --  The Penfield versus Schroeder game was a tale of two halves. Penfield scored six of the first seven goals to take a 6-1 lead with 10:36 remaining in the second quarter. Schroeder scored 11 out of the next 13 goals including nine unanswered goals spanning the last 28 minutes. The Warriors won 12-8.

Penfield's scoring came from attackman Alex Miles and Tucker Nelson with two goals each. Penfield's Kyle Van Thof finished the game with 1 goal and 4 assists. The second quarter saw Schro-penfthe swing from a Penfield dominated game to a Schroeder dominated game.

In the second quarter with 9:46 remaining, Schroeder's Chris Mason scored, with an assist from Pete Noto. A minute and a half later the Patriots struck back during an extra-man opportunity with Van Thof feeding Kevin Westcott. Noto came back with a goal of his own at 5:56 with Cody Consul supplying the assist. The final goal for Penfield came with 5:41 left in the quarter with face-off man Van Thof assisting a Tucker Nelson goal.

Schroeder then took over, scoring the last two goals of the second quarter, four more in the third quarter and three in the final quarter.

In the cage, Scott Tota (Schroeder) finished with seven saves and Brady Del Pozzo (Penfield) finished with seven saves.

Scoring for Schroeder were Noto (4g-1a), Consul (3g-1a), Noto (3a), Chris Mason (1g-2a), Chris Topping (1g-1a), Johnny Murray (1g-1a), Mark Saltrelli (1g) and Jake Spadoni (1a).

Brighton 12  - Brockport 4

updated  -- "It was an all around team effort," said Coach Mike Gottko as Brighton avenged their earlier loss to Brockport with a 12-4 victory at home tonight. Brighton got on the scoreboard early and often during the first quarter outscoring Brockport 6-0 to take the early momentum and lead in this Monroe County D-3 contest. Scoring in the first quarter for the Barons were sophomore attackmen CJ Wool with three goals and Brackett Bourne with two goals. Senior attackman Mark Henrichs scored one of his three in the game during the quarter.

Henrichs opened up the scoring in the second quarter at 9:28 to push the lead to 7-0. Brockport scored its first goal at 5:33 with a goal by Trevor Hayward. Pat Steves scored at 4:09 to make it 7-2 but Brighton finished the scoring at 1:32 as senior middie Evan Davis scored the his first of two with an assist from Henrichs. Brighton led 8-2 at the half.

The third quarter saw one goal from each team. Brockport scored at 6:12 with middie Jake Burns shooting Ryan Pratt assisting. Brighton countered at 1:55 when senior middie Conor Stucki scored his first of two with an assist from Henrichs. Henrichs finished the game with three goals and three assists. Brighton took a 9-3 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Brighton saw goals by Henrichs, Stucki, and Davis who each scored one. Jake Burns scored the Blue Devils only goal of the quarter.

Brighton's win put them into a first place tie in Monroe County Division three with the Blue Devils.

"Our first quarter offensive outburst set the tone for the game," said Coach Gottko. "Our defense settled in and goalie Kyle Hohmann saw the ball really well. We displayed good patience on offense and discipline on defense.".

Scoring for Brighton were Mark Henrichs (3g-3a), CJ Wool (3g-2a), Conor Stucki (2g-1a), Evan Davis (2g), Brackett Bourne (2g) and Steven Cregan (2a). Kyle Hohmann made 12s/4ga for the Barons who improved to 11-3.

Scoring for Brockport were Jake Burns (2g), Trevor Hayward (1g), Pat Steves (1g) and Ryan Pratt (2a). Dylan White made 15s/12ga for the Blue Devils.

 

Thomas 17 - Churchville-Chili 4 

 --  Thomas once again demonstrated their dominance, scoring 16 of the first 17 goals of the game spanning into the fourth quarter. Churchville Chili scored three of the last four goals (all in the fourth quarter). The Titans won 17-4.

Thomas-CCThomas scored nine goals in the first quarter. The first goal of the game was scored less than one minute into the game with Kenny Tomeno scoring at 11:07. Nick Scalzo scored three straight goals for the Titans (the first assisted by Tomeno then latter two were unassisted). Jack Hinderland added two with Brad Hutton, Zach Crawford and JT Hauck scoring one goal each.

In the second quarter, the first Churchville-Chili goal was scored with Ryan Yunker scoring during an extra-man opportunity (assisted by Zach Yehl). Notably for the Titans were Hinderland's second and third goals, Tomeno's second goal as well as goals from Pat Morrill and Kyle Rothfuss.

There was only one goal scored by either team in the third quarter. Rothfuss passed the ball to Hutton for a goal at 1:06. In the fourth quarter the Saints won 3-2. Hauck scored the first goal for the Titans with Hinderland adding his lone assist of the game. Alex Pavone scored the second Churchville-Chili goal with Jon Hemink assisting. Hemink was 5/6 at the face-off for the Saints. The final Titan goal was scored by Tomeno, and was assisted by Morrill. The final two goals were scored by Zach Yehl and Ryan Yunker. Yunker scored his goal with 0:01 remaining in the game.

Adam Difulvio played the entire game in the goal for the Saints and finished with 12 saves. The Titans played three different goalies, Austin Fox, James O'Neil and Dan Solimano. Fox played two quarters and finished with 2 saves, O'Neil played 18 minutes and finished with one save and Solimano finished the game and had one save.

Scoring for Thomas were Hinderland (4g-1a), Tomeno (3g-2a), Scalzo (3g-2a), Hutton (2g), Hauck (2g), Travis Crevier (2a), Morrill (1g-1a), Rothfuss (1g-1a) and Crawford (1g).

Scoring for Churchville-Chili were Yunker (2g), Yehl (1g-1a), Pavone (1g) and Hemink (1a).

Geneva 11 - Pal-Mac 2 

updated special  --  Geneva dominated over Pal-Mac, 11-2 this afternoon. The Panthers scored the first 8 goals spanning the first two quarters.

Geneva scored two goals in the first quarter with Billy Eddington and Will Brennan scoring goals for the Panthers. In the second quarter, the Panthers added six more goals; including goals from long stick middie Tyler Travis, Gary Parmelee, Patrick Roll, Chris Tapscott and Frank Triana. The one limiting factor in the Panther scoring was from goalie Tim Doyle. Doyle finished the game with 19 saves (63%). Over the course of the game, as in most games, Doyle made a number of easy saves but, the Raider goalie also made a number of spectacular saves as well.

Mike Russell led in ground balls for Pal-Mac with nine; Jeff Kier added five more for the Raiders. Tyler Travis (13), Zach Koczent (6) and Will Brennan (6) led in ground balls for the Panthers. Travis also finished the game with 6 one-on-one takes. Koczent finished 11/17 at the face-off for Geneva. Dom Chapman was 5/10 for the Raiders.

Scoring for Geneva were Chris Tapscott (2g-1a), Billy Eddington (1g-2a), Gary Parmelee (2g), Tyler Travis (2g), Frank Triana (1g-1a), Patrick Roll (1g-1a), Will Brennan (1g), Sam Rollo (1g), Dan Pufnock (1a). Ross Dinan finished with six saves (75%) for the Panthers.

Victor 11 - Eastridge 10 

 --  Victor and Eastridge battled for the entire game, with Victor coming out on top 11-10.

Eastridge took control in the first quarter after Victor scored the initial goal (Trevor O'Shea with an assist from Vince Pettrone). Eastridge scored the next five goals to take the 5-1 lead with 2:38 remaining in the first quarter. Patrick Moynihan (2), Matt Doehler, Mike Mortillaro and Justin Walsh scored for the Lancers and Adam Sisson added two assists. Victor scored the next five goals, two of which were in the first quarter. Dale Mattice and Connor Kimball scored with 1:57 and 0:11 remaining. The score was 5-3 Eastridge at the end of the first quarter.

Victor continued with three more unanswered goals to start the second quarter. Pettrone, Mattice and O'Shea each added their second goal of the game to start the quarter. Victor had taken the 6-5 lead with half the quarter remaining. The Lancers tied the game with 2:32 remaining when Moynihan scored his third goal and Sisson added his third assist during a man-up goal. Victor's O'Shea added his third goal (and Pettrone's second assist) for the last goal of the half. The Blue Devils led 7-6 going into halftime.

Eastridge came out of halftime strong and outscored the Blue Devils 3-1 in the third quarter. The Lancers scored the first three goals to take the two goal lead. Trevor Horne added two goals with Mortillaro scoring the third. Sisson added two more assists to his tally. Victor scored the final goal of the quarter with Connor Kimball scoring with 2:10 remaining. Eastridge led 9-8 after three quarter, however it would not be enough.

Victor scored the first three goals of the fourth quarter to take the two goal lead. Matt Koval scored unassisted for the first goal. Mitch Rupp, assisted by Pettrone, scored the last two goals for the Blue Devils; the prior was scored during man-up. Victor held off Eastridge for the final seven minutes, only allowing one goal with 0:08 remaining.

In the cage for Victor, Kevin Donnelly played the first nine minutes making one save with Steve Basile finishing the game and recording four saves. Jake Czwilinski played the entire game for the Lancers and finished with 16 saves (59%).

Scoring for Victor were Pettrone (1g-4a), O'Shea (3g-1a), Rupp (2g-1a), Mattice (2g-1a), Kimball (2g), Koval (1g-1a).

Irondequoit 16 - HFL 5 

 --  Irondequoit had 11 players on the offensive scorebook as they defeated HFL, 16-5, in Monroe County D-2 play today. The Eagles, who led 12-1 at the half, had help gaining ball time as Greg Coholan and 5 of 7 and Justin Buonomo added 4 of 7 face offs.

Scoring for Irondequoit were Greg Coholan (2g-2a), Emmy Poccia (2g-3a), Mike Utz (2g-2a), Drew Coholan (2g-1a), Nick Doktor (3g-1a), Erik Kleehammer (2a), John Padulo (1g-1a), Ian Brooks (1a), David Shields (2g) and Jordan Napierala (2g). Tyler Nash had 1a and recorded 8s/2ga (30 mins) and William Martin had 1s/3ga (18 mins) for the Eagles.

Scoring for Honeoye Falls-Limas were Eric Boike (3g), Jason Breau (1g-1a) and Clai Kuhn (1g). Jay Tallon recorded 8s/16ga for the Cougars.

 

Waterloo 12 - Bloomfield-Honeoye 11   OT  

 --  Waterloo's Chance Lowry scored the game winning goal 0:09 into the first overtime period for the 12-11 win over Bloomfield-Honeoye. The game was back and forth with both teams leading at different points in the game.

Bloomfield-Honeoye led 5-4 after the first quarter and 6-5 at halftime. The Indians came back and led 9-8 after three.

With 5:54 remaining in the game Bloomfield-Honeoye's Zach Blain assisted on a goal by Zach Hammond to give the Bombdogs a one goal lead. With 2:55 remaining Rob Goodenow scored to tie the game once again (with an assist from Mike Bradley). With 0:40 remaining in the game, goalie Zach Ramirez made a point blank save off a Blain shot to keep the game tied. The Bombdogs had one more chance with 0:06 remaining, however, a flag was thrown for a push; which left BH man-down going into overtime.

In the cage, Zach Ramirez (Waterloo) finished the game with 17 saves and Jay Nichols (Bloomfield-Honeoye) finished with 10 saves.

Scoring from Waterloo were Rob Goodenow (4g-1a), Pete Vacca (3g-3a), Jeff Wadhams (1g-3a), Dylan Chilson (1g), Chance Lowry (2g-1a) and Jordan Cook (1g).

Scoring for Bloomfield-Honeoye were Luke Blain (2g-1a), Luke Anderson (3g-2a), Zach Hammond (2g), Ben Cratsley (1g), Pat Marble (1g-1a), Zach Blain (1g-3a) and Keeton Mashtare (1g).

 

Thunder 13 - East Rochester 3 

updated  -- The Greece Thunder defeated East Rochester tonight 13 to 3 taking their record to 8-6, which this the most games won in a season for Athena/Odyssey.

The Thunder came out a bit flat and East Rochester scored the first goal when Clayton Vaughn scored at 7:18. Greece answered less then a minute later when Scotty Tam scored with an assist from Nate Wallenhorst at 6:31. The first period ended in a 1 to 1 score.

The Thunder tallied 3 in the second, allowing 2 from East Rochester. At the half the score was Thunder 4, East Rochester 3. The Thunder defense, led by goalie Steve Cole, did not

allow another goal, and only gave up 3 shots on cage (including no shots for the last 9 minutes of the game.) Nate Wallenhorst once again led the Thunder offense, scoring 5 goals and 4 assists. Middie Scotty Tam had another solid night, scoring 3 goals and 1 assist, and winning 11 of the 15 face offs. The Thunder had 12 assists on 13 goals.

Scoring for the Thunder were Phil Bond (1g-2a), Nate Wallenhorst (5g-4a), Danny Vyverberg (2g-3a), Tyler Gorgione (1g), Scotty Tam (3g-1a), Eric Bodine (1g-1a) and Mason Rosso (1a). Steve Cole had 8 s/3ga (39 mins) and Zack Rudgers played the rest of the game and had 0s/0ga.

Scoring for East Rochester were Clayton Vaughn (3g) and Nick Reiss (2a). Hayden Walsh had 12s/12ga (47 mins) and Lirodin Dervisholli had 0s/0ga (1 min) for the Bombers.

 

Canandaigua 18 - Midlakes 6 

 --  After an 8-1 first quarter, Canandaigua went on to a 13-2 half and an 18-6 victory in a Finger Lakes crossover game against visiting Midlakes this afternoon on Evan Field. The Braves, ranked 6th in this week's New York State poll, had 13 different players on the offensive scorebook and advance their record to 12-2.

Scoring for Canandaigua were Deven Alves (1g-3a), Tanner Scharr (4g), Brian Scheetz (1g-3a), Marshall Johnson (3g), Tom LaCrosse (1g), Will Johnson (1g), Collin Peck (3a), Gannon Osborn (1g), Bryan Peck (1g-1a), Parker Weeks (2g), Shane Dobies (1g-1a), Brandon Thomson (1g) and John Klein (1g). Anthony DeLeo had 7s/6ga for the Braves.

Scoring for Midlakes were Mike Newland (1g), Ben Uveges (1g-1a), Tyler Brooks-Lambert (2g), Tom Cheney (1g) and Cory Gray (1g). Tucker Jensen had 10g/18ga for the Eagles.

 

Pittsford 17 - Rush-Henrietta 3  

updated  -- Pittsford defeated RH 15-3. In the goal, the Panthers played three goalies. Harry Goluses played 28 minutes and finished with 5 saves, Ernie Hook played 13 minutes and finished with one save and Ben Parker played for 7 minutes and finished with one save. For the Royal Comets, Matt Gladstone and Corey Spuck split halves in the cage. Gladstone finished with four saves and Spuck finished with three save.

Scoring for Pittsford were James Purpura (5g-4a), Alex Kober (3g-2a), Thomas Rodenhouse (2g-2a), TJ Iuppa (1g-1a), Steven Troup (1g), Drew Moll (1g), Matt Gold (1g) and Tim Moulton (1g).

Penn Yan 20  - Marcus Whitman 1

 --  Penn Yan came away with a 20-1 victory over Marcus Whitman tonight at Mustang Field.

The Mustangs scored their first goals just 7 seconds into the game with a Ty Trombley face off win, his ground ball pick up, and his feed to Matt Osgood who tucked it in the upper corner of the net. The goal for Osgood was his 49th of the season and puts him atop the Section 5 leader board in goals as teams head into the final week of the regular season.

Penn Yan built a 12-1 first quarter lead, tallied 6 more goals in the second for an 18-1 halftime lead. Coach Hobart was able to go deep into his bench very early in this one as several Mustangs recorded career nights, including Preston Maciejewski who notched 7 points on 5 goals and 2 assists with 5 ground balls and Jamil Modafarri who registered 3 goals.

Freshman goal keeper, Cody Richardson, played the entire game between the pipes for the 13-2 Mustangs and recorded 1s/1ga. Ty Trombley continued his assertion at the face off draw, winning 17 of 22 and picking up a team high 8 ground balls. Penn Yan slowed the tempo in the second half by working the ball sharply around the perimeter on several possessions.

For the first year Wildcats, defenseman Brendan Personale scored their lone goal on a take, a race down the field, and a hard shot that found the back of the net. Wildcat goalie, Nick Cosmano, was bombarded with 28 Mustang shots on goal. He finished 8s/20ga.

Scoring for Penn Yan were Preston Maciejewski (5g-2a), Jamil Modafarri (3g), Cole Castle (3g-2a), Matt Osgood (7g-3a), Ty Trombley (4a), Nate Nichols (1a), Adam Stork (1a), Adam Trombley (1g-1a), and John Linnan (1g-1a).

Scoring for Marcus Whitman was Brendan Personale (1g).

 

Fairport 12 - Gates Chili 7 

 --  Mike Lehmann won 17 of 21 face offs and picked up 15 ground balls for Fairport as they won their Monroe County D-1 league game against visiting Gates Chili 12-7. Fairport led 5-3 after the first quarter, led 6-5 at the half and 9-7 after three quarters.

Scoring for Fairport were Chris Button (1g-1a),Brendan Saylor (3g-1a), Mike Lehmann (1g), Aaron Jones (4g-1a), Martin Manilla (2g-1a), Connor Lowe (1a), Andrew Kristy (1a), Derek DeJoe (1g). Kris Sterzin made 5s/7ga for the Red Raiders (12-1).

Scoring for Gates Chili were Tyler Webb (3g-2a), Grant Ferguson (2g), Pete DiLaura (1g), defenseman Adam Wacenske with (1g) and defenseman Zack Smith with (1a). Jason Baetzhold had 14s/12ga for the Spartans.

 

Spencerport 14 - Batavia 5   

updated  --  Although the teams played to a 1-1 first quarter tie, Spencerport scored five goals in the second, led 6-4 at the half and went on to capture a 14-5 victory at home.

Scoring for Batavia were Joe Muoio (2g-1a), Will Mulcahy (2g), Joe Pedro (1g) and Kyle Maniace (1a). Theo Hill had 21/14ga for the Blue Devils.

Scoring for Spencerport were Kyle Mark (4g-1a), Austin Hintz (3g-1a), Nick Fisher (1g-3a), Sean DeMers (2g-2a), Rocky Gruttadaria (3g), Kevin Heacock (2a), Phil Griffee (1a) and Jim Kelly (1g). Tyler Schweikert made 14s/5ga for the Rangers.

 

Newark 13 - Mynderse 9 

 --  Newark was a 13-9 winner over Mynderse Academy in a Finger Lakes League crossover game tonight at Seneca Falls.

Scoring for Newark were Cody Skinner (2g-2a), Luke Hartman (4g-2a), Jack Timerson (1g-3a), John Gonzalez (2g-1a), Eli Ebanks (3g), RJ VanDeMortel (1g) and Micah Dingman (1a). Dominic Camblin had 18s/9ga.

Scoring for Mynderse were Charlie Barbay (5g-2a), Matt Koopman (1g-2a), Steve Lucchesi (1a), Mike Warrick (1g), Nick Giovannini (1g-2a) and Brett Wood (1g).
