- Penn Yan ended their league season third in Finger Lakes Division I with a 3-3 record (10-7 overall). Seeded first in the Class C tournament, the Mustangs defeated Livonia 17-5 to become the Section Five Class C Champions. The Mustangs lost to Corning East (Section 4) in the second round of the state tournament 9-5. It was the eleventh consecutive Sectional title for Penn Yan.

penn yanPenn Yan only graduated two seniors last season. Dana Wilber was named All-American, 1st team All County, All tournament, and continues to play at Drexel.

Penn Yan, for the second year in a row, looks to return one of the best attacks in Section Five. Matt Osgood looks to lead the attack for the Mustangs. Osgood led Penn Yan in goals and points last season with 92g-25a. He led all of Section Five in goals and was second in points. In addition, he was named MVP for the All tournament team as well as to 2nd team All County. Joining Osgood is Cole Castle who was third in points for the Mustangs with 53g-16a. Castle was twelfth in goals in all of Section Five. Nate Nichols will join Castle and Osgood for the third attack spot.

Moving from Attack to midfield this year is junior Adam Trombley who in attack last year led Penn Yan in assists with 30g-72a. Trombley led all of Section Five in assists and was third in the Section for points in 2008. In 2007, as a freshman, he led Section Five in both assists and points. Trombley was one of the most demonstrative attackman in all of Section Five for two years, but this year he will be trying his hand in the midfield. Joining Trombley will be John Linnan (36g-33a and 4th in points) and Brendan Minor (15g).

Defensively, Penn Yan will look to Ethan Kamholtz between the pipes. Kamholtz is returning for his second season. Kamholtz returns with 210 saves (62%) last season, and has become yet another in a long line of strong Penn Yan goalies. In front of Kamholtz will be Scott Miller (HM), Tim Dyer (HM) and Ryan Kerrick.

Sticking with tradition, Penn Yan will look to underclassman as a key to their success: Adam Stork, Anthony Luppino, Jordan Owen, Baird Wilber and Dylan Yonts. The Mustangs are looking forward to league rivalry games against Canandaigua and Geneva. Out of county games with Hamburg, Carthage, Fairport, Schroeder and Amherst will fill out their roster.
