- Newark ended their league season second in Finger Lakes Division II with a 6-4 record (7-11 newarkoverall). Seeded fifth in the Class B tournament the Reds lost to HFL in the first round and finished as seeded. This season Newark moves from Division II to Division I and joins Penn Yan, Geneva, Canandaigua and Waterloo.

Graduation was hard on the Reds, as they lost their top four scorers, including their entire starting attack. The Reds are led by Head Coaches Henry Kuperus and Matt Groot. Coach Kuperus says "we graduated 82% of our goals from last season and 5 of our top 6 scorers - our offense will need some young players to step up and create opportunities."

Offensively, the Reds will look to John Gonzalez (9g-7a) to lead from the midfield. Gonzalez was the 5th leading scorer last season. RJ VanDeMortel (6-5) will also be a leader in the midfield. Sophomore Jack Timerson (6-5) will switch to attack this season and look to help his team both on the field as well as in a leadership position.

Defensively, Newark looks much stronger with all three long poles returning; Alex Thoms, Robert Camblin and Mike Wind. Wind was named to 2nd team All County last season, along with Marc Minutolo who was named to the HM list. In the cage, the Red will be starting freshman Dominic Camblin. Camblin will look to quickly pick up for Ben Hartman who was named HM last season.

Coach Kuperus recognizes the need for defense saying, "We must play solid defense in settled situations as well as cutting down on turnovers resulting in transition goals." Out of league games against Bath, Batavia, Midlakes, Bloomfield-Honeoye, Pal-Mac, Markus Whitman, and Greece Ath/Ody will finish out the Reds' schedule.
