- Greece Athena/Odyssey ended their league season fourth in Monroe County Division III with a 4-6 record (7-9 overall). Seeded fifteenth in the Class A tournament the Thunder lost to Irondequoit in the first round and finished as seeded.

thunderThe Thunder will look to Captain Nate Wallenhorst this season. Wallenhorst led the team last season in goals and assists with 38g-28a. Coach Corey Perry notes he, "is a solid player that can feed or score. He has also committed to play at SUNY Brockport next year." The Thunder is returning all of their top seven scorers from last season. Joining Wallenhorst in the attack is third leading scorer Phil Bond (28g-3a). Coach Perry is looking for both of them to improve on their totals from last season.

At the midfield, the Thunder may be a bit thin. Phil Lane (25g-16a) was the only returning midfielder with double digit goals from last season, but he and Greg Ryan have decided to continue playing hockey in the off-season instead of lacrosse. Fourth leading scorer Danny Vyverberg (15g-8a) has been moved from attack to midfield and other will need to step up this season for Greece.

Defensively, the Thunder will look to Captain Brandon Cheeseman. Cheeseman was named to 1st team All County last season as a sophomore and hopes to make his junior year even better. Danny Conway will also look to leave his imprint on the team. Coach Perry writes, "Conway was solid in transition last year, and is looking forward to moving to close defense."

A second position that needs filling is goalie. The graduation of Andrew Hosenfeld last season has left the Thunder without a returning goalie. Coach Perry writes that he is looking at two new goalies for the position including last year's JV starting goalie, Zack Rudgers. However, he believes, "the experienced defense will be able to help out whichever goalie gets the start this season."

Out of county games with Eastridge, Gates Chili, Livonia and Newark will challenge the Thunder as they look to improve on last year's record and go for their first over .500 season.
