March, 2009 - Rush Henrietta ended their league season sixth in Monroe County Division I with a 0-10 record (3-13 overall). Seeded fourteenth in the Class A tournament the Royal Comets lost to Penfield in the first round and finished as seeded.
RH graduated fourteen players from last year's roster including all five of their All County players. Three players continued to play lacrosse in college: Ryan Leonard (LeMoyne), Nate DeLone (MCC), Jon Neri (MCC).
Offensively, the Royal Comets will be led by Jake Alvarez (9g-3a) and Joe Perkins (6g-2a). Alvarez and Perkins were sixth and eighth leading points scorers last year. Second year Coach Jim DeWald notes that Mark Mattiacio and Brad Sauln will also be important players to watch.
Defensively, Dylan Saxson will play both LSM and close defense for RH. Coach DeWald writes, "Senior Matt Gladstone and junior Corey Spuck are competing for the spot in goal." Both Gladstone and Spuck were back-up goalies last season for Josh O'Shea. Gladstone ended with 10 saves in 74 minutes and Spuck ended with 16 saves in 73 minutes.
Out of league games against Livonia, Williamsville East, Clarence and a second game with Hilton have also been scheduled. Top Returning Players: Jake Alvarez - Att- 11
