July 27, 2008 - Long Island dominated Central, in a win that was one goal away from running time and saw the Island winning 14-3. The game really did not start running away until the third quarter. This Gold Medal game, unlike any of the other games in the tournament was played as four twelve minute quarters instead of ten minute quarters.
 In the first quarter Long Island scored three unanswered goals. Matthew Palasek scored his first goal with an assist from Steven Murphy on a side arm shot over the top of the goalie's stick. Murphy then turned around and scored his own after picking the ball off the turf and finishing in the back of the net. The final first quarter goal was scored by Thomas Schreiber with a sweep from left to right and a shot beyond the left hip of Steve Mahle. Mahle played the first half of the game and finished at 50% with 6 saves and 6 goals against. The score was 3-0 at the end of the first.
Central scored the first two goals of the second, and the game seemed to move into the same vein as when the two played on Friday. Joe Fletcher scored as a clearing long stick that finished into the lower corner. The second goal was scored during EMO with an inside look. Central was down by one (3-2) but this was the last central goal until 10:12 remaining in the fourth.
Palasek was the main scorer for Long Island and he finished the game with six goals, three of which came on consecutive shots, within 0:40 seconds and in the same fashion. For some reason, the Central defense was allowing Palasek to sit on the crease unhindered and he just kept scoring. Palasek ended with five goals in the last two quarters.
 Jeff Froccaro played exceedingly well at the draw finishing with 15/20 (75%) and picking up five ground balls. In addition, Maxx Meyer and Murphy picked up four ground balls each. Eight different Island players had one take.
For Central, McConnell, Poppleton and Pratt each had three ground balls and McConnell was the only Western player with a take.
Three of the five total extra-man opportunities were scored on, Central was one for three and Long Island was two for two.
In the cage, Long Island played Rob Bellairs in the entire game and he finished with 8s/3ga (73%). Central split goalies at the half. Alex Fiore took over for the second half and finished with 2s/8ga.
Long Island wins their fourth consecutive gold medal. Although the medal game was a blow out, the indications that the competition was the best in years was readily available. Although Long Island defeated all their opponents they only won by slim margins (Western by two, Hudson Valley by one, Central by one).
