June 25, 2008 - The Rochester Chapter of USLacrosse has formulated plans
for a new (senior) All Star Game, which will be held at Paetec Park on July
12th and will be followed by the Rattler's vs Washington Bayhawks game.
The game, named the Herb Fitch Lacrosse Senior Showcase presented by Adidas
will start on Saturday at 4pm. The Rattlers game will start at 7:30pm. Tickets
to the game are $10 which also includes the Rattlers game.
The game will honor Herb Fitch, a member of the National Lacrosse Hall of
Fame. Herb was a four year letterman at Geneva (1838-1942), attended
Hobart College where he was an All American attackman in both his junior
and senior years. In his senior year he played in the 1942 North-South game.
After serving for four years in the U.S. Marine Corps, he returned to the
game as a high school and college official for more than twenty years after
which he spent his time as an assistant coach at Pen Yan (1976-1978). He
died at age 85 in 2006.
Fourteen teams are represented on the "Blue" team which is made up of Monroe
County team players, while thirteen teams are represented on the "White"
team which is made up of Finger Lakes and GRALL team players.
