Remembering Our Own |
May 8, 2007 - Genesee Valley Lacrosse Officials are now wearing a black patch with the number 33 in the center. The patch will be worn over their left breast underneath the US flag.
The patch is in honor of James Lyons who is the son of long time official,
Bob Lyons. James who was a lacrosse player at Brighton (number 33)
was killed in Iraq toward the end of 2006.
In addition, many player helmets are now decorated with a JMJ-23 decal
in memory of Pittsford lacrosse player, Jeff Milano-Johnson.
The Milano-Johnson family, in cooperation with Pittsford Community
Lacrosse Inc., has created a Memorial Fund in Jeffrey's name. Money
from that fund will
be used in the future to support lacrosse related programs and initiatives
for the sport that Jeffrey loved and played with such passion and excellence.
