Penn Yan Finishes Season |
June 9, 2006 - After 21 wins in a row,
PennYan lost 11-6 in the semi final round
of the NYSTournament to Christian
Brothers Academy
of Section 3.
"We had a great practice yesterday, taking
care of the things we had to, and we came out
here and played a full 48 minutes for the first
time all season," CBA coach Jon McCoy told
the Syracuse Post Standard.
The Brothers (19-3) were down 3-1 at the end of
the first quarter. After interecpting a clearing
pass and scoring an open goal net CBA brought
the score to 4-3 with almost four minutes left
in the half. The Brothers added two more goals
before the half, the last of which was scored
with just over ten seconds left and CBA took a
5-4 lead into the half.
Senior defenseman Tristan Keas tied the scored
at five, adding one of only three goals scored
by the Mustangs in the last three quarters.
Scoring for CBA were Jack Harmatuk (3g-1a), Devin
Daly (2g-1a), Mike Suits (2g-1a), Greg Khanzadian
(2g), Craig Lange (2g), Ben Ashenburg (1a), Andrew
D'Agostino (1a) and Jovan Miller (1a). Senior
goalie Matt Schoeneck had 9 saves.
Scoring for Penn Yan were Steve Carlson (3g),
Ryan Cook (1g-1a), Tristan Keas (1g), Dan McGuffie
(1g), Dan Mesler (1a) and Tyler O'Dell (1a). R.J.
Wickham recorded 14 saves.
