May 8, 2006 - The SportsFive Player of the Week awards are out for
week six and the winners this week were selected from
a field of fifty-one nominees.
The Mike Barnard Sportsman
of the Week is junior midfielder Tom Rynn
of Fairport. A pre-season favorite for one the best
offensive players in the Section, Thomas suffered
a season ending knee injury. As difficult as it must
be to remain with the friends who are playing he has
remained an important part of the team, attending
every practice and game, and serves as a Team Captain.
The Graphtex Offensive Player of the Week is awarded
to senior midfielder, Kelly McKenna
of Penfield. A midfielder of the "old style",
Kelly does it all. He is one of the top offensive
threats in the Section. He is one of the best face
off men in the Section and he plays excellent defense.
In last weeks' game with RH he scored 4g-2a and won
12 of 16 face off .Earlier in the year he scored the
game winning goal against Binghamton, and when the
team needs something done, McKenna gets it done.
The Graphtex Defensive Player of the Week is awarded
to junior goalie, Noah Berg of Brighton.
Noah had a game winning performance last week for
the Barons was they beat a tough Geneva team 6-5.
The win was in great part due to Noah's 23 saves. |
