May 1, 2006 - The SportsFive Player
of the Week awards are out for week five
and the three deserving winners were selected
from a field of forty-four nominees.
The Mike Barnard Sportsman of the Week
is senior midfielder Scott Mosher
of Livonia. Scott is a team co-captain,
team leader demonstrates what it means to
hustle and shows concern for his team mates
both on and off the field. He demonstrates
great respect for his opponents, often finding
something positive to say about their games
and he has a great positive attitude.
The Graphtex Offensive Player of the Week
is awarded to senior attackman,
Dan McGuffie of Penn Yan. Dan
was nominated this week for his outstanding
game against Amherst (Section 6), where
he stepped up to score 5g-2a in a game where
his leadership and determination made a
difference for the Mustangs.
The Graphtex Defensive Player of the Week
is awarded to senior defenseman, Brian
Knecht of Geneva. Brian had an
extraordinary day against Corning West on
Saturday where he controlled key offensive
players, recorded an number of key takeaways
and scored two goals after clearing the
ball.
