April 17,2006 - The Player of
the Week awards are out for week three and
the three deserving winners were selected
from a field of twenty-seven nominees.
The Mike Barnard Sportsman of the Week is
senior attackman Chaz Giehl
of Gates Chili. In his nomination he was
described as great leader and respectful
of the opponents he faces off against. "When
he gets beat, he would be the first one
to congratulate the face off man who beat
him after the game and tell him he did a
great job."
The Graphtex Offensive Player of the Week
is awarded to junior attackman, Mike
Danylyshyn of Fairport. In a "SportsFive
Game of the Week", Mike scored the
first five goals and later added another
as his Fairport Red Raiders defeated Penfield
9-6.
The Graphtex Defensive Player of the Week
is awarded to junior goalie, RJ
Wickham of Penn Yan. A key member
of the Pen Yan defense, RJ made 24 saves
in three games a week ago, allowing only
3 goals. In Saturday's overtime win against
Schroeder, RJ made a number of key saves.
