WATERLOO
March
18,2006 - Waterloo was the Finger Lakes-2
Champion last year with an 8-0 league record
and 14-7 over all. Sophomore defenseman Josh
Lewis was named to the All League list.
Seeded 3rd on the Class C side
of the B/C tournament, the Indians finished 2nd
with wins against Livonia (16-3), and Aquinas (15-4)
before losing to Penn Yan in the finals (12-6).
Senior midfielder Jason Johnson was named to the
All Tournament Team. The Indians were 8th in Section
Five in offense (10.33 / game) and 5th in defense
(6.24 / game).
Twelve seniors graduated in 2005
and long time Head Coach Gary DeWall retired as well.
Gone are goalie Pat DeBolt (Hofstra), attackmen Shawn
Dunphy and Matt Haws. Jason Johnson, Gordy Lahr,
T.J. Radka (Cayuga) and Kyle O’Connors and
others graduated from the midfield. Greg Marsh and
Rich Williams left from the defense.
Nearly half the team graduated
last year, but there are a number of quality players
returning. Josh Lewis is a standout defenseman and
Boyd, Jolly and Mateo among others are proven players.
Waterloo has a new Head Coach in Tyrone Thomas and
a schedule that is manageable. Waterloo will do well
in the Finger Lakes-2 division and should do well
with the Class C teams.
