PALMYRA
MACEDON
March
18,2006 - Pal-Mac finished 2nd in
the Finger Lakes-2 division last year with
a 6-2 record and finished the year at 10-10.
Senior Dave Bennett was named to the All
League list at midfield.
The Raiders were seeded 4th
on the Class C side of the B/C tournament and finished
in 4th with a win over Mynderse (16-0) and a loss
to Penn Yan (15-2) in the semi finals.
Pal-Mac was decimated by graduation,
losing more than 60% of the team. Fourteen seniors
were lost including goalie Ben Dlugosh (Medaille)
and midfielders David Bennett (Medaille) and Matt
Walker (MCC). Gone are attackmen Jamie Sinopoli,
Owen Campbell and Matt Christ. The defense lost Mike
Beck and Josh Polle among others.
Top returners include senior attackman
Derrick Piccola and senior defenseman David Merritt.
Junior midfielders Ryan Buckley and Jamie Gross return.
Replacing Dlugosh in the goal will be junior John
Reeves.
When you lose this many seniors,
you must resign yourself to a building year, and
Coach Falso will have lots of teaching to do at Pal-Mac
this year. He is not starting at zero, however, as
he has a number of athletic players coming up from
a successful JV team. In addition the coach was careful
in selecting some out of league games that will allow
the team to be competitive. As a result, Pal-Mac
will have the chance to experience some highs along
with some lows that will probably occur.
