Preseason 2006 - Newark
 -

NEWARK
updated s5 - Newark finished 4th in the Finger Lakes-2 division with a league record of 2-6 and 4-16 over all. They were seeded 8th on the Class C side of the B/C tournament and finished 8th after beating Midlakes (9-2) in the out bracket and then losing to Penn Yan (16-2) in the quarters.

new1Five seniors graduated in 2005 including midfielders Kyle Burm (MCC) and Will Collins and defensemen Ryan McManus and Matt Hannan. Attackman Jason Johnson also graduated.

Returning are seniors Nate Johnson and Dan Mizro in attack, seniors Brett Thoms and Nick Hann in defense and seniors Greg MacBride and Alex Quko, and junior Adam Golding in the midfield. Newcomers include junior Kierra Turner in midfield, sophomore Colin Johnson in attack and freshman Robert Camblin in defense. Senior Anthony Cole returns in the goal.

This could be another growing year for the Reds. Last year many of their games were won or lost by sweeping margins and most of their team returns. Nate Johnson and Dan Mizro are good attackman, but like last year, the depth appears lacking and the ability to get the offensive ball time will be critical. The Reds will certainly win some of their Finger Lakes games, but will have a tough time with the tougher teams in the league. They open against Livonia (at Aquinas) on March 25th.
