Preseason 2006 - Fairport
 -

FAIRPORT
s5 - Fairport placed second in Monroe County–1 last year with a 10-2 league record having lost only to Penfield and ended the season with a 13-6 overall record, having lost to some of the best area teams. Junior midfielder Ryan Lowe and sophomore middie Tom Rynn were named to the first team All League Team.

The Red Raiders were seeded in the number three spot and finished there as they beat Greece (17-1), beat Pittsford (12-4) and then lost to Canandaigua (9-5) in the Class A semi finals. Junior attackman Pat Reilly was named to the All-Tournament team.

Although Fairport lost eight players to graduation, only one was a starter, but off season knee injuries to senior midfielder Tom Rynn and senior attackman Gary Baier will have an impact. Rynn is a top tier midfielder who would have made a difference on both ends of the field. Anthony DiMarsico (Mount Ida) in attack, Steven Hislop (Alfred State) in defense and midfielder Chris Lindner will be missed .

The Red Raiders will have lots of experience on which to draw this year. The attack sees the return of seniors Pat Reilly and Peter Burkhardt and junior Mike Danylyshyn. The midfield returns seniors Ryan Lowe (early to Ohio State), and Brian and Jeff Sanna. Junior Brent Jacobs returns to defense and Geoffrey Mayor is a terrific goalie who will return for his senior year.

fair2Coach Torrelli will be looking at senior Geoff Cook and Rob Duell and junior Chris Atkinson to fill in the defensive positions. Senior Dan Scarazzo will be looking for attack time and Torrelli expects to see depth in the midfield with seniors Jake Fricano, Craig Nairn and David Burke and juniors Eric Martin and Shawn Runyon fighting to playing time.

On paper and before the games have been played, Fairport looks like they are headed to the Class A finals. They have a demanding out of league schedule that includes Corning East, Orchard Park, Penn Yan and Canandaigua. How this team comes together throughout the season will be instrumental in their success. Coach Torrelli will need to harden his defense and Mayor will have the opportunity to prove he can make the game winning saves. The team is very capable – This could be their season.
