Players of the Week - #2 |
April 19, 2005 - The week two Player of the Week awards are out and
the three deserving winners were selected from a field
of eighteen nominees. In a surprise move, the Committee
took two players from Penfield.
The Mike Barnard Sportsman of the Week is senior midfielder
Matt Warner of Geneva. Matt is a
role model, a team leader and the kind of person that
makes you glad to know him. Sportsmanship is only
one part of the complete package that is Matt Warner.
The Graphtex Offensive of the Week is awarded to senior
midfielder, Mike Thon of Penfield.
Mike was a pivotal part of the victories that kept
the Patriots undefeated. He scored 20 points against
some top MC-1 teams. Mike scored 4g-2a in the team's
10-8 win over Irondequoit and two days later scored
2g-1a in their win over Fairport. In the game with
R-H he won 9/10 face offs.
The Graphtex Defensive Player of the Week is awarded
to senior defenseman Luke Prattico
of Penfield. Although only one part of a very strong
defensive unit, Luke was a key player in the defensive
success of his team in their wins against Irondequoit
and Fairport. Always drawing a key offensive player,
Luke not only met his challenges but scored numerous
key take aways and figured greatly in clearing the
ball. |
