NEWARK
Newark,
under first year varsity coach, Bill Kirnie, was 0-8 in Finger
Lakes-1 but finished the season at 4-12 overall.
Seeded 4th in the Class B Tournament, the
Reds nearly beat Brighton who eventually took the B Championship.
The quarter final game ended at 14-13.
Senior midfielder, Mike Wilkes was honored
with first team placement on the Finger Lakes list.
Thirteen of 21 players in Newark graduated
in 2004 including Wilkes, midfielder Hector Alejandro (FLCC),
goalie Matt Gerhart (FLCC), defenseman Matt DePauw (FLCC)
and attackman Nathan Colon.
The majority of players from the 2004
team are gone so Newark is very much in a rebuilding mode.
Second year Coach Kirnie will center his team around four
returning players including senior Kyle Burm and junior Alex
Quku at midfield, junior Anthony Cole in the goal and senior
Jason Johnson in the attack. Newcomers include juniors Nick
Hamm (MD), Dan Mizro (Att) and Travis Skinner (Def)
