Long Island Leads in Lacrosse |
June 25, 2000 - Nassau County (Section 8) leads the state in the both the number and percentage
of schools with boys lacrosse. According to an article in the New York State Sportswriters
Association News, 48 out of 70 schools in Section 8 have teams (69%). The next
closest section, Section 11, is located on the other part of Long Isalnd (Suffolk
County), where 34 of 63 schools field teams (54%).
The Rochester/Finger Lakes area is found fourth from the bottom with 17 teams
out of 118 schools.
