--  Coming into the contests today two teams had yet to win a game this season. Batavia and Greece Athena/Odyssey both came into their game today looking for their first win this season. The Thunder used a strong first three quarters to secure their 10-5 win. Batavia came back strong in the late third and early fourth quarters and brought the game within two goals before the Thunder kicked up their game and scored the last three goals of the game.

Batavia had trouble controlling the ball in the first quarter. Even though midfielder Austin Wilkinson finished 3/3 in the first three draws, the Blue Devils could not get an offensive possession. The Thunder vs BataviaThunder kept up the pressure and did not allow Batavia to get the ball into their offensive end. Batavia failed seven straight clears in the first quarter, four from direct pressure from Greece. When the Blue Devils did get the ball into their offensive end they could not get a shot off and finished the first quarter without taking a single shot. Conversely, Greece finished with nine shots, five on cage, and three goals. The opening goal of the game was scored on an inside feed by Anthony Merola to Pat Crowe. Crowe was open on the crease. Four minutes later Anthony Crawford scored with a dodge. The final goal of the quarter was scored with another crease feed by Merola. This time he fed Teddy Ferguson. Ferguson, who took the face off draw for Greece, finished 11/19 (58%) with a team leading eight ground balls. The score was 3-0 after the first quarter.

In the second quarter both teams added a single goal. Greece scored first with Ferguson's second goal. This time it was assisted by Crowe during an extra man opportunity. Thirty seconds later and Batavia added their first goal when Kenneth Cook fed Josh Marr on the crease. The game continued back and forth, but no more scoring came in the second quarter. Batavia kicked up their shooting in the second quarter and outshot Greece 11-6.

Greece came out quick in the third quarter and scored the first three goals. Crowe fed Crawford from behind the cage with 10:56 remaining in the quarter. The next goal was scored by Merola on an outside shot during man-up. The final Greece goal of the quarter was scored by long stick Keenan Mahoney. Batavia's defense was pressuring Crawford on the outside. Mahoney took advantage of Thunder vs Bataviathe double team and ran towards the crease parallel to Crawford. Crawford found enough space to get the pass off right as Mahoney crossed in front of the cage. With 6:42 remaining in the third quarter Greece led 7-1. Batavia started their comeback with a single goal in the third quarter. Phil Boyd scored off an assist from Conor Holvey during a man-up opportunity for the Blue Devils. The third quarter ended with Greece leading 7-2.

The Blue Devils scored the first three goals of the third quarter to bring the game within two goals. The first goal was scored on sweep shot. Hockey player Josh Marr brought his skills to the lacrosse field and swept the ball past goalie Ken Mohrman. Mohrman finished with five saves for Greece. Freshman Tyler Fales scored the next goal with an assist from Holvey. The final Blue Devil goal was scored during a fast break with Marr taking the ball the whole way. Greece turned the game around in the final four minutes. They added three more goals before time expired.
