April 27, 2012 - Three games were played on Friday night. Marcus Whitman beat Newark 14-0, Hilton beat Brockport 14-7 and McQuaid Jesuit beat Greensburg Central Catholic 13-2.

-- Hilton took a 4-1 lead in the first quarter on their way to a 14-7 win over visiting Brockport in a Monroe County D-3 league game tonight.
Brockport sophomore attackman Andy Reed scored the first goal of the game, but the Cadets came back with four unanswered goals to close the first quarter. In man up, senior attackman Jake Montgomery scored the first of his 5g-1a at 4:38 with an assist by junior middie Alex Milliken. About a minute later junior attackman Dante Giordano scored a man up goal with an assist from junior attackman Derek Richards. Giordano scored his second goal at 2:38 and freshman attackman Shawn Kimble scored an unassisted goal at 1:28. Hilton led at the end of the first quarter 4-1.
It was all Hilton in the second quarter as they scored three unanswered goals. Scoring were senior attackman Mitch Smith, assisted by Richards, Montgomery, assisted by senior midfielder Cory Endres and Smith from Richards. The Cadets had a 7-1 advantage at the halftime break.
Both teams scored three goals in the third quarter. Hilton scored first when Montgomery scored, in man up, with an assist from junior midfielder Alex Milliken. Brockport got back on the scoreboard with a goal by senior attackman Ben Madafferi, assisted by senior middie Billy Russell. On the ensuing face off Montgomery scored an unassisted goal for the Cadets. In forty-nine second Brockport scored two goals. Russell started it off with an assist from Madafferi and senior attackman Forrest Grady scored (unassisted). Hilton finished the scoring in the third quarter with a goal by Endres who was assisted by Montgomery. Hilton was ahead 10-4 at the end of the third quarter.
Brockport scored at the top of the last quarter with an unassisted goal by Madafferi at 11:15. But Hilton returned with three in a row in about two and a half minutes. Richards scored on a pass from Smith, Montgomery scored in man up with an assist from Milliken and Milliken scored on a pass from Richards. In a thirty second span, Brockport scored two goals. The first was by senior midfielder Markell Collins and the second by Russell, assisted by Collins. Hilton's Mitch Smith closed out the game scoring with an assist by Richards with just over two minutes left in the game.
Leading the scoring for the Cadets were Montgomery with 5g-1a and Richards with 1g-5a. Richards along with Ricky Cocilova led the Cadets in ground ball production with seven each. Goalie duties were shared by junior Mark Detroia who recorded 4s/6ga (24 mins) and freshman Jarod Kimble who had 1g/1ga (24mins).
Leading the offensive effort for Brockport were Madafferi (2g-1a), Russell (2g) and Collins (1g-1a). Collins won 9/13 face offs and led his team in ground balls with 8. Senior goalie Hunter DeLany was credited with 7s/14ga for the Blue Devils.

-- A solid defensive effort by Oliver Oswald, Jordan Truly, Jacob Ordiway, Ben Cooley and Wyatt DeCann helped Marcus Whitman defeat Newark 14-0 tonight in Newark. The Wildcats scored five goals in the first quarter and six more before the half.
Leading the scoring for Whitman were Taylor Lazzaro (3g-3a), Connor Kelly (4g), and Clay Wilson (3g). Senior long stick Oliver Oswald won 12 of 16 face offs for the Wildcats. Merritt Bailey was in the cage for Whitman and recorded 4s in the shutout.
Newark senior goalie Dominic Camblin had 8s/11ga in the first half and junior Cody Cornelius had 7s/3ga in the second half.
