| October 18, 2003 - The college class of 2007 left for their new homes this fall, but according to
data from LaxPower.com, most will not be far from their family homes this year.
Of the twenty-seven players listed as moving on to the college lacrosse ranks,
all but five are within an easy drive from Rochester.
Four players have commited to St. John Fisher and two will
attend Nazareth. Three more will tryout for RIT and another will go to Brockport.
Geneseo expectes Irondequoit's defenseman, Kurt Tschetter.
Just a little farther away are three at Binghamton, including
Irondequoit's Nate Kerstein and Penn Yan's Hans Van Houten. Mercyhurst College,
who made the final four in division II last year picked up three local boys
include BJ Linder (Schroeder), Jim Coriale (Penn Yan) and Penfield's Joe Thon.
Penfield's Tim Randall will be right down the road at Cornell. Lycoming College
in Williamsport, PA picked up Fairport's Tom Nairn.
Still within an easy drive will be Brett Queener at Penn State,
Mike Sturcken at Utica and Nick Marrapese at Gettysburg.
Four players left for the state of Maryland including
Mark Johnson (Maryland), Vincent Bove at Navy, Brandon Rose at Towson and Devin
Carlson at St. Mary's. Farthest away on the list is Schroeder's defenseman,
Peter Carlevatti who signed on at Queens University in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Of the twenty-seven players, eight are in division I schools, four are at division
II schools and the rest are at division III schools.
