 -
St. John Fisher College. Penfield scored the first three goals and looked like they might be the winners, but the Braves took a time out, settled down and scored two goals in the last two minutes of the first quarter, before going on to win the Class A championship, 10-7 before a packed crowd at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford.

The Patriots scored first with an unassisted goal by Ryan O'Donnell at 10:46. Sophomore middie, Kelly McKenna scored the next two for Penfield with assists by Mike Arvan and Mike Thon. After more than five and a half minutes, junior attackman, Brian Hadsell scored for CA on a feed by Class A MVP, Aaron Manzer (3g-1a). Less than a minute later, Canandaigua scored again when Mike Pane (1g-1a) scored on a feed from Dan Groot (1g-2a). The quarter ended with Penfield up 3-2.

The Braves scored four in a row before Penfield scored in the second. Junior middie, Tyler Emery and Groot scored unassisted goals early in the quarter. The Patriots got back on the scoreboard with unassisted goals from Trevor Rice (2g) and Tim Pfeffer. CA's Mulheron scored at 0:06 with an assist from Groot to end the half with Canandaigua up 7-5.

The pace generally slowed in the second half with lots of transition due to standout performances by defensemen and goalies at both ends of the field. Penfield's senior defenseman and All American, Dan Clay had a number of key take aways and along with junior defenseman, Luke Pratttico figured heavily in the Penfield clears. At the other end of the field, junior defenseman, Mike Serron along with seniors Grady Moore and Brian McWilliams helped to shut out the Patriots strong attack. Penfield's sophomore goalie, Brian Dell made key saves as did CA's sophomore goalie, Dan Serafine.

The Braves saw goals from senior middie, Chad Buck (unassisted) and Manzer (from Pane). The third quarter ended with Canandaigua up 9-5.

No one scored in the first nine minutes of the last quarter as the ball continually moved up and down the field. CA's Manzer scored on an assist from Pane to bring the Braves to 10-5 but the Patriots were not finished as AJ Civalier scored an assisted goal at 2:08 and Trevor Rice scored unassisted at 1:47.
