April 15, 2004 - Finally a beautiful spring day in the Rochester area and although
many fields were wet there was lots of lacrosse action today.
Webster Thomas took a 6-1 lead in the first quarter of their game at Livonia and at halftime was ahead 10-2. The final score was 14-6 for Thomas (2-2). Scoring for the Titans were senior attackman, Jeff Casper (4g-2a), senior attackman, Steve Hutton (4g-2a) and senior attackman, John Schumacher (1-g-4a). Senior long stick, Tyler VanCura had an assist and 8 ground balls. Livonia saw scoring from senior attackmen, Pat Wahl (1g-4a) and Ryan Rossborough 2g. Livonia is now 1-2 and will meet Hilton on Saturday.
Rush-Henrietta
took its record to 1-1 with non-league win against Eastridge, 18-2.
Senior midfielders, Joe Malach scored five goals and added two assists, Joe Moorse scored three goals and had an assist and Chad Gaesser added two goals and an assist for the host Royal Comets.

Geneva started off with a 6-2 lead but HF-L came back to 6-4 at the half and in the second half the teams ties at 2 in an exciting game that Geneva won 8-6 at Honeoye Falls. Senior attckman, Luke Bonney scored 3g-1a and junior middie Matt Warner added 2g-2a while junior defenseman Craig McDonald added an assist for the Panthers. Juniors, Nick Sharman and Matt Hannan combined for 13 saves for Geneva (3-1)
HF-L saw man-up goals from junior attackman, Mike Cintineo (2g-2a) and regualr goals from senior middie, Jake Vogt (2g). Junior goalie, Mike Brisbane recorded 18 saves for the Cougars (2-1). "He had a spectacular game," said Geneva Coach Bill Warder. [No report from HF-L.]
Freshman goalie, RJ Wickham stepped up with 12 saves for Penn Yan as they won their home game with Fairport, 9-5. Junior attackman, Jon Van Houten led the Mustang's effort with 3g-2a, while sophomores Steve Carlsen and Dan McGuffie each added 2g. Senior middie, Kyle Eakins added 1g-2a for Penn Yan (3-2). Coach Brian Hobart noted a strong performance by long stick defensemen, Derek Christensen (senior), Mike Manley (freshman), Tristan Keas (sophomore) and Preston Christensen (sophormore) along with defensive middie play by junior, Kyle Jensen and sophomore, Josh Wisley.

Newark Coach, Bill Kirnie reports that Aquinas won the Newark Tournament which concluded Thursday as the Little Irish beat Newark 14-3 in the finals. Bobby DeFreze scored 6g and J.P. Gorman added 2g-3a while Pat Eyre and Jon Contestabile added 2g each for Aquinas (2-2). Senior attackman, Nathan Colon scored 2g for Newark (3-1).[No report from Aquinas.]
In the consolation game, it was Mynderse over Hilton, 7-0 as Mike Kurdziolek led the Blue Devils with 2g-3a. Six other players scored for Mynderse including Tim Ellis (1g-1a), Jake Fitzgerald, Andy Zaverella, Troy Gothem, Adam Sanderson and Eric Davids. Anthonay Carnevale recorded 3 saves for the shutout. Mynderse is now 2-5 while Hilton drops to 1-3. [No report from Hilton.]
Brighton remained undefeated in three games with a 7-3 win over Victor (0-3) as junior attackmen, Mike Ryerson scored 2g-2a and James Ryan added 3g-2a for the Barons. [No reports from Brighton or Victor.]
Webster Schroeder beat Amherst of Section 6 (Buffalo), 9-6 with efforts by junior midfielder, Mike Catalino (3g-3a) and attackman, Steve Jonas (3g). Sophomore attackman, Jay Willmes added 2g for the Warriors (2-1). [No report from Schroeder.]
Waterloo goalie, Matt Lilly had a great day in the goal for the Indians as he made 14 saves and held McQuaid Jesuit to 4 goals in their home game win, 7-4. David Osborne scored 2g, Mike Strohm had 1g-3a, Gordy Lahr had 1g-2a and Jason Johnson added 1g-1a for Waterloo. Sophomore defensemen Kyle Poorman and Josh Lewis, junior, Gregg Marsh and senior, Pete Wadhams all helped to keep the Knights away from the goal. Waterloo moves to 3-2. McQuaid Jesuit drops to 0-5.
