Thursday Games: Some Close Ones
 -  There were a number of very exciting games Thursday.
  
In a game that took the last few minutes, Hilton defeated Odyssey 9-8 when Mitch Ritchie scored the winning goals. Early in the game, with Hilton up 4-1, Odyssey scored three in a row to tie the game. In the final quarter, Odyssey was ahead 8-7 with three minutes left when Hilton senior middie, Tyler Endres scored to tie the game. Forty seconds later, Ritchie scored. Although man up in the last minute, the Leopards were unable to convert. Endres ended the game with 4g-3a and Ritchie ended with 3g-1a for Hilton. Doug Thomas recorded saves 11 for the Cadets (1-1). Sophomore attackman, Dave Rodriguez scored 2g-1a for Odyssey (0-4).
  
It was an exciting day for Honeoye Falls-Lima as they played their school’s first varsity game and defeated Webster Thomas 13-12 at Webster’s DeWitt School. Junior attackman, Jeff Price (6g-2a) scored the winning goal on an assist by Mike Cintineo (2g-2a) with 9:39 left in the game. Sophomore attackman, Eric Holtin added 4g and junior goalie Mike Brisbane recorded 16 saves for the Cougars (1-0).
  
Fairport recovered from last’s weekend’s loss to Corning East with an impressive 6-5 comeback victory over host Irondequoit. With 3:27 left in the game, freshman middie, Tom Rynn scored on a feed from senior middie, Pete Gibbons to tie the game at five. Just over a minute later, Gibbons scored the game winner. Senior middie, Pat VanHall scored 2g for Fairport (1-1) and Jon Timbey scored 2g for Irondequoit (2-1).
  
Pittsford defeated host Rush-Henrietta 15-9 behind a strong performance by senior middie, Pat Kendricks who scored 5g-1a for the Panthers (1-1). Although Pittsford took a 3-1 first quarter lead, the Comets came back in the second and the half ended with Pittsford up 5-7. Pittsford also saw goals from junior attackman, Jake Boyce (3g-2a), junior middie, Dylan Bittlingmaier (2g-3a) and senior middie, RJ Lamontagne (3g-1a). Sophomores Greg Gans and Jaimie Moran each scored their first varsity goals for Pittsford. Pittsford outshot R-H 40-24 and won 16 of 25 faceoffs. Senior Goalie, Ed Witter recorded 7 saves for the Panthers.
  
Newark took a commanding lead and ended with a 21-9 victory over Pal-Mac with strong scoring from senior middie Mychal Wilkes (8g-6a) and senior attackman Nathan Colon (7g). The reds (2-0) took the faceoff contest 23-8. Pal-Mac (1-2) saw goals from Dave Bennett (5g) and Jamie Sinopli (2g), while goalie Den Dlugosh made 10 saves.
  
In the first league outing for Penfield and Schroeder, it was the Patriots on top 15-10 as they took control in the first half with a 9-0 score. Schroeder rallied in the second, but Penfield saw scoring from six different players for the win. Scoring for Penfield were attackmen Tim Pfeffer (4g-1a), Trevor Rice (2g-3a), Ryan O’Donnell (3-0) and , Kelly McKenna (2g-1a) and midfielders Mike Thon (3-0) and Kevin McGuigan (1g-1a). Thon won 17 of 24 faceoffs for the Patriots (2-0). Schroeder saw two goal games from junior attackman, Tom Costanza (2g-1a), Jack Mooney (2g), Jay Willmes (2g) and Mike Catalino (2g). Goalies Dennis Costanza and Andy Peter combined for 19 saves for Schroeder (0-1).
  
In their season opener, Canandaigua beat Mynderse 15-0 with four goals and 2 assists from senior midfielder Mike Pane.
  
It was Waterloo over Victor in this early season Finger Lakes crossover game as the Indians won 5-2. Waterloo's senior, Mike Strohm led the team with assists on all five goals. Victor saw goals from Chris Potter and Kyle Sullivan. Waterloo now moves to 2-0.
