Canandaigua and Penn Yan Win
 -  Two out of three Section Five teams won Western Regional Championships today. Canandaigua beat Orchard Park 11-5 in the first game. Hamburg beat Geneva 13-9 in the second game and Penn Yan was the 18-2 winner over Salamanca. Many games throughout the state were postponed until Wednesday due to weather issues.
  
West Genesee (Section 3) did beat Vestal (Section 4) 13-9 and will play against Canandaigua on Thursday. Corning East (Section 4) beat Skaneateles (Section 3) in an exciting last minute win (10-9) in their Class C quarter final game and will play against Penn Yan on Thursday.
     

CLASS A:  Canandaigua 11 - Orchard Park 5

ca_opThe Braves scored three goals in the first three-and-a-half minutes and took a 5-0 first quarter lead on their way to a 9-1 half and 11-5 win. Canandaigua benefited from many Orchard Park penalties, included a three minute stick penalty to start the fourth quarter and some exciting saves by Scott Bement who ended the game with 15 saves. Orchard Park saw its first goal from Kevin Lalley with 2:33 left before halftime.

Scoring for Canandaigua were Brian Scheetz (3g), Justin Tomzak (1g-3a), Connor Henderson (3g-1a), Austin Rogers (1g-2a), Marshall Johnson (1g-1a), Tom LaCrosse (1g) and Tanner Scharr (1g-1a).

Scoring for Orchard Parks were Jeff Tundo (1g), Artie Marrapese (1g), Kevin Lalley (1g) and Mike Allaire (2g). Ryan Cole made 9s/11ga for the Quakers who end their season with a record of 19-3.
  

CLASS B:  Hamburg 13 - Geneva 9

Section Four Champion Hamburg took a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, but Geneva came back in the second with five of their own as the Bulldogs led 7-5 at the half. Senior attackman Kyle Boncaro scored the last Geneva goal of the half with just six seconds left, as he drove the crease and shot a one-handed underhand shot that scored.
  
Senior middie Willie Rago cut Hamburg's lead to one at the top pf the third (7-6), scoring at 8:46 and giving the Panthers a 6-1 run since the first quarter.
  
Joe Resetarits gave Hamburg an 8-6 lead, who then went on to add an assist and then two more goals. Hamburg led after three quarters, 11-7.

Geneva scored twice to take the score to within two, but Resetarits scored his sixth goal of the game with 1:12 left to put Hamburg up for good, 13-9.

The Bulldogs will move on to the State semi finals in Syracuse and will face either Carthage (Section 3) or Chenango Forks (Section 4).

CLASS C:  Penn Yan 18 - Salamanca 2

updated Penn Yan dominated in the third game of the day at Lewiston-Porter High School. The Mustangs scored two quick goals in the first three minutes of the game and then scored two more in a ten second period to take a 4-0 lead which became a 7-0 lead by the end of the first quarter.
  
With Penn Yan ahead 11-1 in the last few seconds of the half, Salamanca's Christian Reiller scored a hidden-ball trick play , holding the ball on the back of his stick and walking toward the goal, where he flipped the ball in to the air and shot the ball on an unexpected Penn Yan goalie. The Mustangs led 11-2 at the half.

With 7:22 left in the third quarter, Brendan Minor scored Penn Yan's fourteenth goal sending the game into running time. The Mustangs finished with four more for the 18-2 final. Matt Osgood had seven goals for Penn Yan.
  
Penn Yan will face Corning East (Section 4) on Thursday at Coyne Field (Syracuse University).

Scoring for Penn Yan were Nate Nichols (2g), Matt Osgood (8g-1a), Cole Castle (3g-1a), John Linnan (2g-1a), Adam Trombley (2g-4a), Brendan Minor (1g), Jamil Modafarri (1a) and Dana Wilber (1a). Ethan Kamholtz had 9 saves for the Mustangs.

Scoring for Salamanca were Christian Reiller and Damon Biscup who each scored one goal. Salamanca who finished their season with a 17-3 record.
