but it was stopped due to lightning. The Webster Thomas/Schroeder game was
cancelled at McAvoy was cancelled due to storms, but the morning games went
on as scheduled. Rush-Henrietta scored six late goals to force overtime where
Churchville-Chili won 14-13. Pittsford has a close win over Aquinas (8-6)

Churchville 14 - Rush-Henrietta 13 Overtime
Churchville-Chili came together as a team and won their first victory over a Monroe County Division-1
opponent with a 14-13 overtime victory against Rush-Henrietta. At 2:52 of the
first overtime period the Saints' Ryan Yunker scored his third goal of the
game, assisted by Jeff Langschwager.
Langschwager opened up the scoring for the game for the Saints. That was followed
soon after by Gino Marcello's first goal (assist by James Liveri). Marcello
finished with 5 goals for the Saints. RH scored their first goal at 5:51 with
Jake Alvarez hitting the back of the net on his only shot of the game. Marcello
added two more goals for the Saints in the next three minutes (the first assisted
by Trevor Jessop). RH struck again with Nate Delone scoring during a R-H man-down
situation. Churchville-Chili used early RH penalties to help build their score
as they scored two more goals before the first quarter ended, both in EMO.
The Saints looked strong with a 6-2 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter continued to be all Churchville-Chili. The Saints won the
quarter 5-3. Yunker scored the first goal followed by Keith Preston who scored
another man-up goal for CC. In all Churchville-Chili scored 4 out of 7 on EMO,
while RH scored 3 out of 4 (including two during their fourth quarter comeback).
Nate Delone scored his second for the Royal Comets with 7:04 remaining in the
first half. Churchville continued scoring and finished with two late goals
(1:32 and 1:18) to take an 11-5 lead into halftime.
The Royal Comets started to get their act together during the halftime break
although Preston scored the first goal of the third quarter 0:46 in. Rush scored
goals back to back with Ryan Leonard (from Delone) and Bobby Pattridge (from
Aaron Bethmann) both finding the back of the net. Jon Hemink (assisted from
Yunker) scored for the Saints to keep the six goal lead. However with 0:53
remaining in the third Colin Cornaire scored the first of his four goals to
cut the lead down to five. The third quarter ended with the Saints up 13-8.
Adam Difulvio, the back-up goalie for the Saints, started the fourth quarter.
0:40 into the quarter Leonard scored to bring the lead down to four. With 5:40
remaining Pattridge scored (assisted by Cornaire) during an EMO. This cut the
lead to three, and saw the return of starting goalie Sean Kettles to the Saints
pipes. Difulvio finished with 2s/2ga. One minute later Cornaire scored his
second goal during another EMO (assisted by Bethmann). The lead was now down
to two. Cornaire scored the last two goals in regulation, unassisted at 1:56
and 1:29. The game moved onto to overtime.
The scoring drive began with a Kettles save from another Cornaire shot. Kettles
made an outlet pass to Langschwager who beat his man down the sideline and
looked to Ryan Yunker open near the crease.
The caliber of offense was present as both goalies had sub .500 games. Josh
O'Shea, for RH, finished with 7s/14ga and Kettles, for CC, finished with 9s/11ga.
During a clearing attempt, Rush-Henrietta's Jon Roberts and Churchville-Chili's
Scott Shamp collided helmet-to-helmet. Neither player returned to the game
and Roberts was taken off the field by an ambulance, for precautionary measures.

Bath 10 - Midlakes 2
Before
the start of this season, the last game won by Bath was on
May 6, 2005, when they defeated Newark in double overtime. The 2006 and 2007
seasons went winless, but this is a new year for the Rams and after today's
10-2 win over Midlakes, they are 4-2, with a two goal loss to Livonia and a
one goal loss to McQuaid Jesuit.
Midlakes is a good team, currently 4-4, and so the game was expected to be
a good one. It was, however, an off day for the Streaming Eagles and a good
day for the Rams, who controlled both ends of the field and forced numerous
Midlakes errors. Bath was relentless on defense, swarming the ball all over
the defensive end of the field and picking up a majority of the ground balls.
Bath scored three unanswered goals in the first quarter. After ball time at
both ends of the field, Bath scored the first goal at 7:29 when senior attackman,
Dave Harris received a cross-crease pass from freshman attackman Zach Reed
and scored with a wrist shot. At 3:43, senior middie McKenzie Durham scored
the first of his 5g-1a from an isolation dodge from behind the cage. He used
this technique for a number of his goals in the game. With just under two minutes
in the quarter, Harris scored on his own isolation play, also dodging his defender
from behind the cage. Midlakes slides were either late or nonexistent and they
managed only one shot on the cage in the first quarter which ended with Bath
up 3-0.
More than half of the second quarter was spent in transition and it wasn't
until 4:02 that Bath scored on a man up play with a feed from
Durham to Reed who bounced the ball over Jared Schoonerman's shoulder. Schoonerman
had a good day in the cage, making 18 saves, many on one-on-one shots in the
last quarter.
Midlakes scored their first goal of the game with 0:26 left in the half when
sophomore attackman Tyler Brooks-Lambert broke up a Bath clear and ran toward
the goal, dishing the ball to Conor Hogan for the score. Bath came right back,
however, and after a technical face off win sent Durham right to the goal,
scoring with a shot to top right corner. The half ended with the Rams up 5-1.
The Bath defensive unit comprised of sophomores Tim Wolfer, Mark Bart and Dylan
Bennett and junior Brent Harrison ( long sticks) and Andy Nesbitt and Nick
Rossi up front were aggressive and dominating as they pressured the ball wherever
it went and forced many turnovers. They were able to limit Midlakes to outside
shots and by taking their passing game off the table, forced them to try one-on-one
drives that limited the need for goalie Chris Wolfer to make a lot of big saves.
Bath scored both goals in the third quarter. At 10:35, Durham scored again
on an unassisted isolation play that left him one-on-one with Schoonerman.
Zach Reed scored again, this time on his own isolation dodge from behind the
cage for a on-one-one.
Midlakes scored their last goal early in the fourth quarter when Brooks-Lambert
received a feed from Ben Uveges who was behind the cage and used a bounce
shot which sailed over Wolfer's shoulder.
Bath finished the scoring with three
goals. After a save by Schoonerman, the ball came out to the side of the cage
where Reed picked up the ball and sent it to Nick Rossi who scored the man
up goal at 8:28. Less than thirty seconds later, again after winning a technical
face off, Durham executed a dodge in front of the cage and scored on the outside
shot. He scored another unassisted goal at 2:24 to end the game scoring.
Scoring for Bath were Mckenzie Durham (5g-1a), Zach Reed (2g-2a), Dave Harris
(2g) and Nick Rossi (1g). Chris Wolfer recorded 5s/2ga for Bath. Sophomore
Matt Nesbitt won 12 out of 15 face offs for the Rams.
Scoring for Midlakes were Tyler
Brooks-Lambert (1g-1a), Conor Hogan (1g) and Ben Uveges (1a). Jared Schoonerman
finished with 18s/10ga for Midlakes.
