Penf, Mid, PY and AQ Win on Tuesday
 -  There were five games on the first Tuesday night schedule. Penfield won a close game with Thomas (11-8). Midlakes won their opener 9-2 over Batavia. Penn Yan was the 13-0 winner over visiting Mynderse while Aquinas won a close game against Churchville-Chili. West Genesee was a 7-4 winner over host Irondequoit.

Penfield used a third quarter surge to defeat Thomas 11-8 in the opening contest for both teams.

The game began on a dark note, as the power was off and the lights would not turn on at McAvoy Park. Although the darkness was coming, the coaches decided to start the game and see what would happened.

The first quarter saw good defense by both teams. The weather also played a factor as neither team took many shots and both teams looked sluggish with the cold weather bearing down. That did not last long as by the second quarter (and more so in the second half) the two teams showed they were ready to go.

Penfield scored the first two goals as Gian Maggio (assist to Kyle Denhoff) and Denhoff (assist to James Dwyer) gave the Patriots the lead. Thomas scored the next four goals to take a 4-2 lead into the half including a score that was inadvertently knocked into the goal by a Penfield defenseman with only 0:04 remaining in the half.

At halftime, the coaches decided to continue to play for as long as there was light. However, about half way into the third quarter, the lights came on and the game continued to its conclusion.

The third quarter was all Penfield. The Patriot offense scored six goals while holding the Titans to four shots (only two on cage). Additionally the Patriots won the ground ball battle 20-9 and the face-off battle 7-1. Over the entire game Kyle Van Thof demonstrated great skill at the draw, winning 15/20 draws. A significant factor both on face-offs as well as the entire game was Alex Nowak who picked up a total of 8 ground balls during the game as well as three one-on-one takes.

By the time the final quarter came around the Patriots had an 8-5 lead. Thomas showed the same drive they had in the first half and tied the quarter 3-3, scoring two goals within the last two minutes as they attempted to fight back. Thomas showed dedication and never gave up the fight. Leading the charge, as well as leading scoring on both teams, was Nick Scalzo who finished the game with 4g-1a including the final two goals for the Titans.

In the cage, Thomas split halves with James O'Neil playing the first (6s/2ga) and Austin Fox playing the second (7s/9ga). Brady Del Pozzo played the entire game for the Patriots at an even 50% (8s/8ga).

Scoring for Penfield were Denhoff (3g-1a), Connor Rice (2g-1a), Maggio (2g), Van Thof (2g), Tucker Nelson (1g) and Nowak (1g).

Scoring for Thomas were Scalzo (4g-1a), Max Gurowski (2g-1a), Kyle LaVallee (2g) and Brad Hutton (1a).
