Bath Wins to Start Lacrosse Play |
March 22, 2008 - Bath snapped a 40 game winless streak with their 12-8 win over Owego in the first game of
2008 for Section Five lacrosse. Bath traveled to Union Endicott for the game.
The Rams looked to be in difficulty after they allowed Owego to score the first four goals of the game. The Ram offense was both "sloppy and hurried", according to Coach Ken DiDomineck, as Owego took advantage of fast-breaks and early extra-man
opportunities. Bath scored a late goal to end the quarter down 4-1.
The Rams refocused and then outscored Owego 5-1 in the second quarter to take
the lead into halftime (6-5). Coach DiDomineck said the team played with "patience
and control" as they continued their lead into the second half and then expanded
on it.
There were many standout players in the first victory of the season. Goalie, Chris Wolfer had a strong day in the cage finishing with 15 saves (65%). At the face-off, sophomore Matt Nesbit won 15 out of 16 draws (94%). Scoring came from two players at the opposite ends of their high school careers as freshman Zach Reed (4g-3a) and senior Dave Harris (4g-2a) led the charge.
Scoring for Bath were Reed (4g-3a), Harris (4g-2a), McKenzie Durham (2g-2a), Nick Rossi (1g) and Cole Beebe (1g). Bath starts off the 2008 season 1-0.
Scoring for Owego were Zach Lessler (4g-1a), Parker Evans (2g-2a), Ryan Bullock
(1g-4a), Joe Terenzi (1g) and Nick Gregg (1a). |
