Wednesday: Penfield Wins |
April 19, 2006 - Penfield traveled to
Binghamton (Section 4)and won a close one
with a score by Kelly McKenna.
Kelly
McKenna scored the winning goal with 2:14
in the fourth quarter with an assist from
Mike Arvan to break an 8-8 tie at Binghamton.
Kevin Roe won the ensuing face off and Penfield
controlled the ball in the final minutes
to secure the win.
Binghamton enjoyed a 6-3 lead at halftime
and was up 7-6 going into the fourth quarter
before Penfield’s Connor Rice scored
back to back goals to give Penfield an 8-7
lead at the 5:56 mark of the final period.
Binghamton bounced back and tied the game
up with 5:35 left before McKenna scored
the game winner.
Scorers for Penfield were Mike Arvan (5),
Rice (2g-1a), McKenna while Dave Malone
and Kevin Green each had two goals. Dan
Huntington and Mike Cummins each had a an
assist.
Brian Dell had 12 saves for the visiting
Patriots. Kelly McKenna won 7 of 12 face
odds, Mike Cummins added 2 of 5 and Kevin
Roe went 2 for 3. Alex Nowak led the team
in ground balls with seven.
Binghamton was lead by Cody Barnes with
2g and Rutgers bound, Hunter Burnard also
added 2g in his first game since an injury
earlier in the season. John Cortina who
represented the Central Region at the Empire
State Games had 10 saves for the Binghamton
(7-2). |
