? Fairport junior attackman Mike Danylyshyn
scored the first five goals for Fairport
and added one more to lead the Red Raiders
to a 9-6 win at Penfield in this premiere
Monroe County match up.
When
you talk about a near perfect game, you
are talking about the Fairport
- Penfield game played today at Penfield.
In fact, almost unbelievably, there were
no time serving penalties in the entire
game.
As each team played a high tempo, quick
movement game, the first few shots were
saved at each end by Penfield goalie,
Brian Dell (10s) and Fairport goalie Geoffrey
Mayor (12s). At the 7:34 mark, Fairport
scored with a one-one-one drive by Danylyshyn
who scored again at 5:44 with a feed from
Eric Martin. Penfield returned (at 5:16)
with a goal by Connor Rice, assisted by
Mike Cummings. Feeling the momentum, the
Patriots scored two more, the first at
4:53 with Mike Arvan scoring (unassisted)
and the second at 4:30 by Kelly McKenna
(unassisted). Penfield was in the lead
3-2 until Danylyshyn scored again with
just 0:04 left in the first quarter.
Penfield took the lead in the second quarter
on goals by Cummings (an unassisted drive
from out front) at 9:53 and one by Scott
Serron at 8:15 on a feed from Rice. Fairport
scored in between (8:41) as Danylyshyn
scored his fifth goal on a fast break
feed from Pat Reilly. Penfield started
half time with a 5-4 lead.
The Patriots increased their lead to two
with another goal by Serron (assisted
by McKenna) at 10:04. It would be the
last goal by Penfield. Fairport brought
the score back to a tie on goals at 7:38
(Danylyshyn from Dan Scarazzo) and 5:36
(Reilly from Jeff Sanna).
The last quarter belonged to the Red Raiders
with scores by Danylyshyn (from Sanna)
and Ryan Lowe (unassisted on a drive from
out front). In the last minute of the
game Penfield pulled their goalie in an
effort to get the ball back, and Sanna
scored on an open goal to give Fairport
the 9-6 victory.
Scoring for Fairport were Danylyshyn (6g),
Jeff Sanna (1g-2a), Reilly (1g-1a), Lowe
(1g) while Scarazzo and Martin each added
an assist. Senior goalie Geoff Mayer made
12 saves for Fairport (3-1).
Five different players made the scorebook
for Penfield, led by Mike Cummings, Connor
Rice and Kelly McKenna (1g-1a) each. McKenna
won 9 of 13 faceoff. Mike Arvan and Scott
Serron each scored a goal and Brian Dell
ended the game with 10 saves for the Patriots
(4-1).
A
strong second half effort gave Midlakes the
8-4 victory over Pal-Mac as Ryan McCannon
scored 4g and Glen Johnson added 1g-3a
for the winners. After a scoreless first
quarter, Pal-Mac took a 2-1 half time lead.
Midlakes tied the score at four at the
end of the third and came back with four
unanswered goals in the last period.
Scoring for Midlakes were Glen Stevenson (1g-3a), Jon Briggs (1a), Ryan McCannon
(4g), Nate Stevens (1g), Jamie Arthur (1g), Josh Sauve (1a) and R.C. Weston (1g).
Jared Schoonerman made 9 saves for Midlakes.
Scoring for Pal-Mac were Dave Merritt (2g), Jaimie Gross (1g), MIke Christ (1g)
while
Derrick Piccola and Will Mallia each added an assist. John Reeves recorded 19
saves for the Raiders (0-4).
Rush-Henrietta
suffered their first loss of the season
when Webster Schroeder
won a 15-8 victory this evening at home.
Schroeder face off man John Pawluk won
the opening draw, picked up the ball and
ran down field to feed Mike Tota for the
first goal, just 0:07 into the game. Schroeder
scored the next six goals (on 7 shots)
to maintain their undefeated record of
4-0.
Scoring for Webster were Mike Tota (4g-1a),
Eric Chavoustie (3g), Nick Mooney (1g-1a),
Grant Catalino (3g-5a), Jay Wilmes (3g),
Austin Orsini (1g-1a), John Pawluk (1a)
, Chris Ferry (3a) and goalie Dennis Costanza
(1a) who also recorded 8s/6ga. Zach Marshall
had 4s/1ga. Pawluk and Chris Topping won
15 of 25 face offs for the Warriors (4-0).
Scoring for Rush-Henrietta were Tony Henriquez
and Nate Delone with (2g-1a), Brian Hantzis
and Justin Rose with 2g each and Matt
Moran with one assist. Junior goalie Matt
McShea made 8 saves and fellow junior
Andrew Widanka made 2 saves for the Royal
Comets (3-1).
In
another close one, Brighton
was the 10-9 overtime winner over host
HFL. Tied after the first quarter, HFL
scored four unanswered goals to take a
7-3 half time lead and then added one
to the tally in the third quarter to take
an 8-3 lead.
Brighton came back with the next four goals
to make it 8-7 Cougars with 6:26 left.
Twenty-five seconds later the Cougars
added one to take the score to 9-7. Brighton
then scored two goals in 23 seconds to
tie the score with 2:17 left in regulation
and eventually take the game into overtime.
Brighton senior attackman Colin Davis who
scored the goal sending the game into
overtime scored the winning goal as well
after Brighton called a time out to set
up the play that called for a feed from
senior attackman Kyle Warren.
Scoring for Brighton were Davis (2g), Robbie
Asselin (2g-1a), Colin Hickey and Ryan
Conti scored 2g each and Jake Anderson
scored his first Varsity goal.
Scoring for HFL were Cade Norris (2g-2a),
Zach Whyte (2g-1a), Connor Burgasser (2g),
Andrew Santiago (1g), Dan Layfield (1g),
and Ian Griffin (1g).
Waterloo
was the big winner with a 17-5 victory
over host Mynderse. After a 1-1 first
quarter, the Indians opened it up outscoring
the Blue Devils 7-2 to take an 8-3 half
time lead. Each team double its score
in the third quarter.
Waterloo saw scoring from Winston Boyd
(5g-2a), Josh Mateo (3g-2a) and Nate Boyd
(3g-1a), while Mike Ruiz and Bill Jolly
each added 2g and Brian Adler and Blane
Murray each added a goal. Josh Lewis recorded
an assist and Andy Riegel (8s) and Mark
Nearpass (2s) shared goal keeper duties
for Waterloo (5-1).
Mynderse saw goals from Dustin Luckinbill
(3g), Anthony Clark (1g), Kevin McCully
(1g), Jon Young (1a) and Sean McGrimley
(1a). Zac Rescort had 12 saves for Mynderse
(2-3). No report
from Mynderse.
Irondequoit
was the 9-7 winner at Pittsford. Irondequoit's
Todd Laemlein scored the first goal of the
game with an assist from Greg Wright. After
that, neither team was able to pull away
with the scoring going back and forth. The
game was tight until the final minutes of
the fourth quarter. By quarter it was Irondequoit
1-0 ater the first, 4-4 at the half and
7-7 at the end of the third quarter.

Zach Nash ahd 17 saves for Irondequoit
(3-1).
Leading the scoring for the Panthers were
Doug Milano-Johnson (3g), Cam Edmiston (2g-1a)
and Chris Kist (2g).
It
was a rare shutout for Newark
in their 12-0 victory over host Bath. Newark
set the tone (after a 17-4 loss last night
to Canandaigua) and scored five goals in
the first quarter and ended the half up
7-0.
Scoring for the Reds were Nate Johnson (2g-1a),
Colin Johnson (2g-1a), Dan Mizro (2g-2a),
Alex Quku (3g), John Barrett (1g-2a), Adam
Golding (1g-1a). Jon Shanley added one goal
and Greg MacBride added an assist. Goalie
Josh Putman continued to perform well in
goal with 10 saves and the shutout.
Goalie Jeremiah Wilder had 14 saves for
Bath.
It
was Spencerport over Brockport
in a close 6-5 game at Spencerport. The
Rangers took a 3-1 first quarter but the
Blue Devils came back to tie at three at
the half. Brockport had the advantage 4-3
at the end of three quarters, but the Rangers
took the win in the final period.
Scoring for the Rangers were Rob Stojanov (2g), Phil Schmid (2g), Steve Difulvio
(1g and 9 ground balls) and Tyler Hintz (1g). Ryan Konko had 12 saves for Spencerport
(4-1).
Adam Nauerth had 2 goals for Brockport. No report from
Brockport.
It
was visiting Victor with
the 11-7 win at Livonia with the Blue Devils
scoring four goals in the first quarter
while hold the Bulldogs to 2. Livonia came
back in the second quarter and the teams
tied at the half. In the second half it
was Victor with seven goals and Livonia
with three.
Scoring for Victor were Eric Willman
(3g-1a), Jason Houtenbrink (3g), Andy Savage
(1g-1a), Erick Rogemoser and Alex Rogemoser
with (1g-1a) each, Frank Valenti (1g) and
Joe Coleman and Brad Payne who each added
one assist. Junior Mitchell Liegerot made
10 saves or Victor (3-3).
Scoring for the Bulldogs were Adam Schaible
(2g), Scott Mosher (2a), Chadd Britton (1g-1a),

Aaron Jamison recorded 12 saves for Livonia

was Churchville Chili over
Greece Arcadia/Olympia with a 16-1 win at
Arcadia. Leading the scoring for the Saints
were Ryan
Grogan (1g-4a) and Gino Marcello (4g) While
Jaime Englert and Ben Rossignolo added
2g-2a. The defense was led by
Brian Briggs with 11 ground balls and goalie Evan Williams (goalie) with 4
saves. No report from Arcadia/Olympia.
Geneva was
physical in their 10-6 win at host Aquinas
tonight. Leading the effort for
the Panthers were Sean Braman (3g),
John Warner (2g, 2a) and RJ Gringeri
(1g 1a). Kyle Barcaro, Andy Torella,
John Manian and Willy Rago each added
one goal. Adam Schultz made 10 saves
for Geneva (2-3).
Scoring for the Little Irish were Chris
Roland (2g 1a), Dave Schmandt (2g), Pat
King (1g), Matt Smith (1g), Mark Pincelli
(2a) and Carol Kennedy (1a). Alan Antinarelli
recorded 16 saves for Aquinas (3-2).
It
was Webster Thomas the
13-5 victor over host Hilton as the Titans
took a 6-2 half time lead.
Scoring for Thomas were Kevin Kemp (2g-1a),

Kyle Lavallee (1g-1a),

Bryan Clifford, Jake Zieglar,
and Freshmen AJ Glagolov. In goal for
the second time this year was Junior Alex
Mosher.

the scoring for Thomas was Brendon
