April 4, 2006 - It turned back to winter today,
with temperatures in the low 30's and heavy
snow at some sites.
Rush-Henrietta
was up 5-0 at host Hilton when the game
was suspended about 2 minutes before the
half. The game will be finished on Saturday
at 11:00 am at Hilton.
The
Webster Schroeder - Spencerport game was
suspended with about nine minutes left in
the third quarter with Webster up 10-3.
After taking a 5-1 lead in the first quarter
and with snow falling, the Warriors ended
the half up 10-1. After starting the substitutes
at the start of the second half.
When the game was stopped the Schroeder
scoring leaders were Jay Wilmes (4g),
Mike Tota (1g-1a), Grant Catalino (1g-1a),
Austin Orsini (2g-1a) and freshman midfielder
Chris Topping who scored his first varsity
goal. Chris Ferry added two assists for
the Warriors. Senior goalie Dennis Costanza
recorded two saves and one goal in the first
half while junior Zach Marshall (1s/2ga)
took over in the second half.
Senior John Pawluk and Topping won 9 of
13 face offs for Schroeder.
Senior midfielder Stephen DiFulvio, senior
attackman Rob Stojanov and senior middie
Mike Hicks scored unassisted goals for the
Rangers.

Penn
Yan took a 2-0 half time lead and
increased it to 5-1 after the third quarter
before posting a 6-1 win over visiting Canandaigua.
A stand out game by Penn Yan defenders Tristan
Keas, Dana Wilber, Preston Christensen,
Mike Manley and short sticks Donnie Benedict,
Chris Carlson and Brandon Trombley was noted
by Coach Hobart. Junior goalie RJ Wickham
posted 11 saves for the Mustangs.
Scoring for Penn Yan were Dan Mesler and
Steve Carlson with two goals each and Dan
McGuffie and Ryan Cook each added a goal
while Dan Wolfe recorded an assist for Penn
Yan (2-1).
Senior goalie Dan Serafine made six saves
for Canandaigua (1-2).
Although
Pittsford started out with a 6-4 half time
lead, the Churchville-Chili defense,
led by junior Brian Briggs and seniors Shane
Melvin, Eric Dewind, and Ryan Cantrell held
the Panthers to two goals in the second
half while added six of their own.
The offensive effort was led by junior midfielders
Jaime Englert (4g), Doug Hemink (3g-3a)
and Cory Mee (1g-1a), sophomore midfielder
Gino Marcello (2g-3a) and junior attackmen
Ryan Grogan (1g-2a) and Ben Rossignolo (1g-1a).
Senior middie Danny Kuntz added an assist
for C-C. Senior goalie Evan Williams recorded
23 saves for the Saints (2-1). No
report from Pittsford.
It
was Geneva over Victor
in the 7-5 game played at Geneva. The defensive
dominated game saw the Panthers go up 7-3
until Victor added two goals in the last
minute of the game.
Scoring for Geneva were junior attackman
Sean Braman (2g), junior midfielder John
Warner (1g-1a), senior attackman John Manion
(1g) and freshman defenseman Tyler Travis,
sophomore middie Willy Rago and sophomore
attackman Kyle Boncaro who each score one
goal. Junior midfielder RJ Gringeri added
one assist for the Panthers. The Geneva
defense was led by seniors Dan Toner, Brian
Knecht, Steve Healy and juniors Andy Torruella
and Tyler Travis. Junior goalie Adam Schutz
had 6 saves for Geneva (1-2).
Scoring for Victor were senior middie Erick
Rogemoser (2g); junior middies Jason Houtenbrink
(1g) and Eric Willman (1g), junior attackman
Andy Savage (1g), sophomore attackman Mike
Domizio (1a) and senior midfielder Steve
Personale (1a). Junior goalie Mitchell Liegerot
recorded 9 saves for the Blue Devils (1-2).
Fairport
was the 17-3 winner over host Brockport
after taking a 6-3 half time lead. The faceoff
unit of Jeff Sanna (11W/2L), David Burke
(6W/3L), Craig Nairn (1W) and Todd Sturcken
(1W) won 19 of 24 draws for the Raiders.
Thirteen different Fairport players made
the scorebook. Senior attackman Pat Reilly
(6g-2a), senior middie Ryan Lowe (2g-2a)
along with junior attackman Mike Danylyshyn
(2g-1a) and senior attackman Dan Scarazzo
(2g) led the way. Craig Nairn, Ted Mierzwa,
David Burke and Dan Holmes each added one
goal, while adding assists were Jeff Sanna
(2a), Pete Burkhardtt (1a), Eric Martin
(1a), Max Keil (1a), and Shawn Runyon (1a).
Senior goalie Geoff Mayor (6s-3ga) started
the effort for the Raiders, while senior
Zach Harris (3s-0ga) and junior Matt Hurley
(3s-0ga) finished the game for Fairport
(2-1).
Scoring for Brockport were junior midfielder
Eric Gallert (1g) and junior attackmen Adam
Nauerth (1g-1a) and Jeremy Toscano (1g,0a).
Brockport drops to 2-1.
Livonia
increased its record to 4-0 with a 16-2
win over visiting Pal-Mac as senior middie
Scott Mosher and sophomore attackman Tyler
Russell each scored (3g-1a).
The Bulldogs scored six first quarter goals
as Mosher scored three and Russell added
two more. Senior attackmen John Dalberth
and junior attackman Brian Sciera set up
plays that led to eleven different Bulldogs
getting into the scorebook. The Livonia
defenders shut down the Pal-Mac offense,
allowing only two shots during the quarter.
Defenseman Dave Merrit scored for Pal-Mac
just before the first period ended.
The second quarter was slower paced as Livonia
scored three goals to take a 9–1 lead
into the half. Junior attackman Kyle Olson
scored two goals during the second quarter
for the Bulldogs. Defensemen Andy Kurtz,
Shane Moran, Shane Ward, Jeremy Allston,
Gabe Recchio and long stick defensive midfielders
Mike Vetrano and Jeremy Hudak held the Pal-Mac
offense to zero shots during the second
quarter.
The second half saw more of the same kind
of play with Livonia scoring three goals
in the third quarter and four more in the
fourth, while holding Pal-Mac to just 1
goal on 5 shots. Senior middie Chadd Britton
had two goals an an assist in the second
half . Midfielders Luke Merritt and Adam
Schaible each scored their second goals
of the game.
The last quarter of the game was played
in some very unpleasant blizzard conditions
as a near white out made for some very interesting
play as a quick two inches of snow blanketed
Saunders Field making the lines impossible
to see.
Scoring for Livonia was Mosher (3g-1a),
Russell (3g-1a), Schaible (2g-1a), Britton
(2g- 1a), Sciera (1g-2a), Merritt (2g),
Olson (2g), John Dalberth (2a), Shane Moran
(1g), Oren Taylor (1a) and Brent Simpson
(1a). Senior goalie Aaron Jamison had one
save and senior Zac Berger added one save
for Livonia.
Scoring for Pal-Mac was Merritt (1g), sophomore
midfielder Peter Macklos (1g) and junior
attackman Cody Clement (1a). Junior goalie
Jonathon Reeve made 20 saves for the Raiders
(0-1).
Penfield
was able to get their win in before the
weather turned as they beat visiting Gates
Chili 16-3. It took the Patriots nearly
nine minutes before scoring three goals
to finish the first quarter up 3-0 and then
extended their lead to 8-0 at the half.
Leading the scoring for Penfield were Scott
Serron (4g), Kelly McKenna (3g-1a), Connor
Rice (1g-4a), Dave Malone (1g-2a), Mark
Hill (2g) and Kevin Green (1g-1a). Rounding
out Penfield’s scoring with a goal
each were Mike Arvan, Mike Cummins, Dan
Huntington and Paul Leonhard. Senior middie
Ben Foster added an assist for the Patriots.
Senior goalie Ryan Nicoletta took over for
senior Brian Dell in the second half and
had 3 saves for Penfield (3-0).
Gates-Chili’s senior attackman Chaz
Giehl scored one goal and had two assists
and controlled numerous face offs for the
Spartans. Junior attackman Andy Hilton scored
one goal and one assist and senior midfielder
Jim Drabin added one goal. Goal keepers
Dave Bellavia (12s) and Jason Baetzhole
(7s) combined for 19 saves for Gates Chili
(0-3).
Irondequoit
finished their game in the snow as they
beat visiting Athena/Odyssey 16-1. The Eagles
out shot the Thunder 26-8 while Greece junior
goalies Dave Tarana made three saves and
Nick Bellucco added 2 saves after entering
the game at the end of the second quarter.
Senior attackman Dave Rodriguez scored the
unassisted goal for the Thunder (0-4). There
was no report from Irondequoit (2-1).
It
was Waterloo 9-3 over host
Midlakes as the Indians took a 2-2 first
quarter to at 7-2 half.
Scoring for Midlakes were Josh Mateo (3g-2a),
Stephen Kuti (2g-2a), Winston Boyd (1g-3a),
Mike Ruiz (2g) and Bill Jolly (1g). Waterloo
goalies Andy Riegel (8s) and Mark Nearpass
(2s) combined for 10 saves for the Indians
(3-0).
Scoring for Midlakes were Glen Stephenson
(1g), Ryan McConnoh (1g), Nick Newland (1g)
and Jon Brigs (1a). Jared Schoonerman recorded
18 saves for the Eagles (1-2).
The Newark - Mynderse game was moved to
April 29th.
