March 23, 2005 - The first game on the Section Five schedule was played yesterday in the southern
tier as Coring West defeated Bath Haverling 13-7. It was the
first game for each team. West lead at the end of the first
quarter 3-2 but scored 4 unanswered goals in four minutes
of the second to end the half at 7-2.
West's Steve Sabol scored the first goal at the 6:38 mark
but the Rams came back twelve seconds later on a goal by senior
midfielder Jeremy Sutfin. West scored the next two (Lewis
and Lebaron) and Bath's Ryan Finney ended the quarter with
a goal with twenty-one second left.
Corning took control in the second half with goals by Lewis,
Tammaro, Sabol and Pierson. Bath saw second half goals by
senior attackmen Ryan Finney (3g) and Liam Glover (2g) and
another from Sutfin (2g).
A great deal of the early season game was played in man-up.
Bath scored on 4 of 11 while the Vikings scored on 1 of 7.
Corning West goalie Jon Fiorillo finished with 13 saves,
while Bath's Jeremiah Wilder recorded 15 saves.
Bath head coach Ken DiDomineck, told the Corning Leader,"We
did some great things and we did some terrible things,"
DiDomineck said. "This was the first game. We have 17
more games to go." |
