January 27, 2016 - Penfield/Schroeder goalie Willie Klan (Ohio State) was named to the final roster of the 2016 U.S. Men’s National Under-19 Team that will play in the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) World Championship, July 7-16 in Coquitlam, British Columbia next summer.
After starting with over one hundred players who were invited to tryouts last June, in Baltimore, the team was cut to fifty-one players in August and then thirty who played last one last exhibition game earlier this month.
Five players from Section Five made the original prospects list including Brandon Barker (Pittsford/Ohio State), Jamie Trimboli (Victor/Syracuse) and Kevin Hill (Thomas/Penn State). Pittsford LSM/Defenseman Jared Conners (Pittsford/Virginia) made it through to the final cuts today.
High School senior goalies Phil Gross (Deerfield Academy/Brown) and Jack Pezulla (Boys' Latin/North Carolina) also made the final roster of twenty five. Before the games begin to of the twenty players will be named as alternates.
The team will have a two day training program in Baltimore in June and a four day session in July in Seattle before crossing the border into Canada for the games.
