The Victor Signing Ceremony, usually held in the cafeteria had to move to the auditorium this year as the Blue Devils celebrated seventeen student-athletes who will be moving on the play NCAA sports after graduation this spring. Ten boys from the New York State Championship lacrosse team were among the mix.

Ron Whitcomb, Director of Athletics and Physical Education was the master of ceremonies, and welcomed the over two hundred friends and family members in attendance. "So who are these seventeen people on the stage," he asked. "First of all, they are highly talented. They worked for the success. We have had success at Victor Central Schools because of the spirit of these people behind me." He continued, "They are difference makers on their teams. They are tough. They are classy. They have character. They are play-makers and coaches rely on these play-makers all the time because they deliver."

Each student-athlete then introduced themselves, stated where they would be attending college and spoke briefly about a role model. Many of the seniors spoke about and thanked their parents and some spoke of coaches and family members. Lots of pictures were then taken by parents, friends and well-wishers.

For the first time, under a new initiative by the NCAA, players moving on to Division III schools were honored during the fall signing period. In the past, only those players signing NLI contracts were honored, but the NCAA changed that this summer, by providing a document for Division III student-athletes to sign.

Signing for lacrosse were (alphabetically), Dan Barrow who will go to Mercyhurst University. He will start his fourth season on the Varsity with 96g-24a. Patrick Barrow, a defenseman with 2g-6a, was a Class B All Tournament team selection in his sophomore year, will play at SUNY Albany. Long-stick midfielder, Jack Callahan, who was another sophomore pick for the Class B All Tournament team, will be going to Bryant University. Binghamton University will get midfielder Mike DeMarco who start his senior year with 78g-55a. He was an All Tournament team pick last year and was MVP in his sophomore year. Face off specialist TD Ierlan will join Patrick Barrow at Albany next year. He has a long list of honors including MVP of the Class B tournament. He was also named a US Lacrosse All American last year. In twenty-one games last year, he won over three hundred face offs (81% wins) for the Blue Devils. He also led the team in ground ball production with 202.

The University of Massachusetts will get attackman Max Lambert who will start his third year on Varsity with 65g-79a. He was another Blue Devil named to last year's All Tournament team. Senior goalie Brennan Mackey will stay closer to home next year when he plays for Roberts Wesleyan. He will start his third year on the Blue Devil Varsity after a 51% save record last year. Attackman Ryan Maloney will move on to Cornell University next fall. Starting his fourth year on the Varsity, Ryan will add to 74g-67a recorded thus far. He was Time Warner's Player of the game in the Blue Devil semifinal win over Jamesville-DeWitt last year after scoring 3g-2a in the 11-9 win that led to the championship game where he added 2g-1a. Senior midfielder Dylan Smith signed his NLI to play for the NCAA D-II Seton Hill University Griffins. In his first year on Varsity and with limited time, he recorded 3g-1a. Midfielder Jamie Trimboli, also a US Lacrosse All American as a junior will take a long lists of accomplishments when he reports to Syracuse University next year. A first team All Section Five player who will start his final year with a career record of 126g-55a, Jamie has been ranked nationally as #5 in midfield in his class.

The impressive group of ten seniors, who will start their last season with a career total of 399g-223a, helped Victor not only win last year New York State Class B Championship, but also topped the Section Five Scholar-Athlete list with a 95.15 rating.
