Under Amour Tournament Showcases Local Talent

The Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Weekend is now complete. The events saw six groups of players competing from July 3rd through July 5th at Towson, Maryland.

Klan and BarkerThe Senior All-America Games on Friday night saw the South team defeating the North 25-17. Two players from Section Five were selected for the team; senior Pittsford midfielder Brandon Barker and senior Penfield goalie Willie Klan played for the North team. Both will be joining the Ohio State University team in the fall.

Barker recorded three ground balls in the game, and Klan, playing in the first half recorded five saves against 8 goals allowed turning the game over to Harvard University bound Jack Corbett (Hotchkiss) with the North up 12-8. [ Box score ]

The Underclassmen Tournament saw nine teams playing in two pools. The Upstate NY team had ten players from Section Five including Colby Barker (Pittsford-midfield), Patrick Barrow (Victor-defense), Jared Conners (Pittsford-LSM), Travis Ford (Thomas-midfield), Connor Haims (Pittsford-defense), TD Ierlan (Victor-midfield/FO), Max Lambert (Victor-attack), Ryan Maloney (Victor-attack), Jamie Trimboli (Victor-midfield) and former Pittsford goalie, Dylan Sulzbach (now at Salisbury Prep).

The Upstate team was 3-1 in pool play, beating Baltimore 11-9 and New England 14-8 on Friday and the South team 7-6 on Saturday. They lost to the Washington DC team 10-8 on Saturday and then lost a close on in the bracket round to New Jersey, 7-6.

Lambert finished the tournament with 2g, Trimboli with 4g-3a, Maloney with 1a, Ford with 1g, Conners with 1g-2a and Colby Barker with 1a. Dylan Sulzbach finished with 16 saves.

The weekend also featured the uncommitted boys tournament. The group was divided into "Black" and "White" teams for each class from 2016 to 2018. Playing for the 2018 Black team were Joey Barboza (Penfield-attack) and William Fell (Penfield-defense). Playing on the 2018 White team was Victor goalie, Chayse Ierlan. The Black team won their contest 7-6 on Saturday.
