Monday: Newark Over Brockport 9-8, Irondequoit Over Ithaca

Four games were played on Monday. Newark had a one goal win over Brockport at Nazareth College where the teams dedicated the game to survivors of domestic abuse. Irondequoit hosted Ithaca and came out the victor in a 14-10 contest. Waterloo defeated Bloomfield-Honeoye and Churchville-Chili beat the Lightning.

--  NOTES:  Newark scored the first goal and although Brockport kept the game close they never tied. The Reds won 9-8 with Conor Tickner coming up big with two saves at 0:12 and 0:04 remaining in regulation. Tickner finished the contest with 10 saves (56%). Today's contest at Nazareth College was played in dedication to survivors of domestic abuse. A collection was taken up during the game with the proceeds going toward toys for the children of domestic abuse families.

The win today was the first for the Reds against Brockport, having only faced twice and the Blue Devils winning the first meeting in 2014. Midfielder Quinton Caleb was the big scorer for Brockport with 3g-1a. Attackmen Tyler Stiefel (3g) and Chad Tobey (1g-2a) were also big scorers for the Blue Devils. Teddy Collins scored the back to back goals to start the game for the Reds. Both were unassisted and gave them early control. Deven Lewis, Zach Bushart and Evan Knapp each added two goals for Newark.

Brockport brought the score within a single goal three times at 2-1, 4-3 and the final score; however, they could never get the game tied. Newark dominated the face-off time and by extension ball control. Dylan Harmon finished at 80% for Newark with 16/20. Defenseman Evan Corteville led the Reds with 6 ground balls. Caleb also finished with six ground balls for Brockport. Defenseman Austin King added four and midfielders Alex Mann and Jon Yaeger added three each.
